Durant Hits Three At Buzzer

Feb 4, 2011

18-30 Chicago @ 22-26 Seattle: 118-121

SEATTLE (AP) – Kevin Durant would not let a resilient Chicago Bulls team get a road win against his Seattle Stealth. Durant hit a contested three point shot over Luol Deng as time wound down to win the game. Durant finished the game with 42 points.

Durant and Deng engaged in an exciting second half scoring duel. Deng scored 29 for the game; 21 of those points in the second half. In comparison, Durant had 25 of his points in the second half. “You can’t but just watch guys likes them compete like that,” Bulls G Jamal Crawford stated after the game. Crawford finished with 16 points of his own.

Andrew Bogut had 19 points, 7 rebounds, and Jason Kidd had a unique double double of 11 rebounds and 11 assists.

All-Star Game Starters Announced

Feb 5, 2011

NEW YORK (AP) – New York’s Allen Iverson and Seattle’s Kevin Durant were named as surprise starters for the All-Star Game as both players saw a surge of votes push them ahead of their fellow NBA stars. Iverson only just pipped Washington’s Gilbert Arenas for a starting nod while Durant was an even bigger surprise coming ahead of the arrogant yet widely popular Sacramento King Moses Chara.

The Eastern Conference All-Stars will be led by Cleveland’s LeBron James, who was top vote getter in the All-Star ballot. James and Iverson will be joined by Miami’s Dwyane Wade, Toronto’s Chris Bosh, and Orlando’s Dwight Howard.

The starters for the Western Conference All-Stars are Durant, San Antonio’s Tim Duncan, Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant, New Orleans’ Chris Paul, and last year’s All-Star Game MVP and Houston Rocket Yao Ming.

Iverson, acquired by New York last month, will be playing in his 11th All-Star Game. Duncan and Bryant will both be playing in their 13th.

Durant, Tyson Lead Comeback Win

Feb 6, 2011

27-25 Boston @ 22-26 Seattle: 109-112

SEATTLE (AP) – Boston really missed star player Kevin Garnett (separated shoulder) as Seattle continued their hot form with an impressive comeback win. “Without KG, we lose a lot on both ends of the floor,” Rajon Rondo said, “Especially on defense. That’s where we lost the game tonight.”

Despite getting a triple double from Rondo (18 points, 10 rebounds, 12 assists), 22 points from Ray Allen, and 22 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists from Paul Pierce; Boston could not withstand a furious offensive barrage from the high scoring tandem of Kevin Durant and Seattle sixth man Reshawn Tyson.

Durant finished with 28 points, 8 rebounds, Tyson added 21 points in 23 minutes. David Lee also put up 10 points and 10 rebounds, Andrew Bogut had 10 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and Jason Kidd added 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists.

Fourth Quarter Comeback Came Too Late

Feb 8, 2011

23-27 Seattle @ 18-32 Utah: 122-126

UTAH (AP) – Two nights after Kevin Durant and Reshawn Tyson led the Seattle Stealth to a rousing comeback victory against the Boston Celtics, the two scorers looked set to repeat that feat against the Utah Jazz. Unfortunately, the two of them fell short of their goal and Seattle suffered a close four point loss.

Durant scored 27 points, Tyson added 24, while Andrew Bogut had a near triple double of 18 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists, and Jason Kidd was the same with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists.

Utah got 33 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals from Joe Johnson. Deron Williams add 19 points and 6 assists. There were seven Jazz players who scored in double digits.

Damn, sucks you lost to Utah. Playoffs are far from a certainty, which is a shame. Cool to see KD make all-starter though.

Makes the season more exciting (re: playoffs) but yes, odds are against us. And KD as a starter really surprised me. I thoguht Chara had it down on lock.

It's happening soon. A trade is. :) Dirk or Elton or Emeka. Just trying to iron out the details!

Chara is mad alright... but he does not dislike KD. He respects him. (Y) I think that was evidenced in a few chapters prior when both were on Team USA.

Pistons Acquire Promising Jeff Green

Feb 9, 2011

DETROIT (AP) – The Detroit Pistons have just confirmed that they have traded for promising 24 year old forward Jeff Green. The 6’9”, 235 lbs forward was drafted by Boston with the fifth overall pick of the 2007 NBA Draft. Green, a former Georgetown Hoya, was immediately traded to Seattle in the deal that brought the Celtics Ray Allen.

Green is a promising talent who has recently fallen out of favour in Seattle due to a logjam of forwards on the Stealth roster. He is currently averaging a career low 6.3 ppg and 1.9 rpg, while not having started any games all season. Green is in the final year of his rookie contract and holds career averages of 10.3 ppg and 3.8 rpg.

He is expected to start alongside Zach Randolph and Rip Hamilton in Detroit and his addition is expected to help the Pistons continue to contend in the Eastern Conference. The 23-26 Pistons traded Rasheed Wallace in order to get Green.

Seattle Gains Winner and Veteran Sheed

Feb 9, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – Rasheed Wallacewas traded to the Seattle Stealth in a surprise deal. Wallace was acquired in exchange for Jeff Green and Adonal Foyle.

The Stealth had been rumoured for months to be in talks with the Toronto Raptors about All-Star Chris Bosh but those talks broke down two weeks ago. Seattle was said to have set their sights on Emeka Okafor or Elton Brand. The deal for Wallace comes as a big surprise that many did not see coming.

Wallace is well past his prime and at the age of 36, one cannot fathom how much longer he has in his career. The 6’11” 230 lbs player was a fourth overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft. Wallace has career averages of 14.7 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 1.9 apg, and has one NBA championship with the Detroit Pistons.

The former Tar Heel does bring a wealth of experience and locker room leadership with him to Seattle. Wallace is currently averaging 10.8 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.6 apg in 46 games played this season. He will wear 36 in Seattle, which has a 24-27 record.

Tyson Given Starting Role

Feb 10, 2011

GOLDEN STATE (AP) – Raja Bell’s tenure as starting shooting guard for the Seattle Stealth is officially over as head coach George Karl announced that second year scoring sensation Reshawn Tyson will make his first start of the 2010-11 season.

Tyson has been the subject of many trade rumours this season but the guard has also been consistently performing at a high level from off the Seattle bench. A gifted athlete, the former Tar Heel declined to comment on his promotion to the starting five.

Knew Dirk was a smokescreen, but I don't know about the acquisition of Sheed. I really like him, but at this point, Green is better. Will be fun to see how he and Durant mesh though.

Totally did not mention the most important part of the update. :P

Tyson's starting spot. Good for him. Durant's going to be pissed. I knew Raja Bell could never be a second option.

I think eventually Durant & Tyson will become best buddies. Just like Kobe hating on Bynum & Jordan dogging Pippen. If Tyson delivers then they'll be fine.

Don't know about Sheed, but don't like Green either.

Finally someone to back up Tyson when he is in trouble.. go Tar Heels :D :D :D

Morrison is trash in real life, but he was always my favorite Stealth player. You should have traded him instead of Jeff for Bogut. Sheed will be entertaining though. Adding a trash talking pot smoking foo' to the mix should lighten the atmosphere.

3 Tar Heels on my team now. :)

Morrison was alright. But I could not say no to getting Bogut. This has actually been my most active seasons on 2k9 in terms of deals, we've done 2 already this season but no more for now. We got a good group of vets on the team now (Kidd, Bell, Wallace) plus Durant, Lee, Bogut, Ty... hopefully we can turn this season around!

And can't say how much Sheed will feature in the actual storyline...

The title immediately made me think you traded Ty. :D Glad you didn't. And finally, he can start. Although Durant might be mad.

I like Sheed, he can make some long jumpers off the bench. You sure like those Tar Heels.

Nice acquisition in Sheed. Glad you did not trade for Dirk. Tyson has been up and down so far in his career. Time to show some consistency.

I got him because he can shoot. :) And yeah man, go UNC!

Yeah man. Well, he's been having 20 point games from off bench recently and is averaging double digits in points per game so I decided it was time to give him a shot. I love Raja but he's good off the bench too with his three point shooting.

Durant-Tyson Starting Combo: 62 Points

Feb 10, 2011

24-27 Seattle @ 29-24 Golden State: 136-117

GOLDEN STATE (AP) – Kevin Durant scored 33 points. Reshawn Tyson had 29 points in his first start of the season. The Seattle Stealth cruised to a 19 point victory over the Golden State Warriors. Stealth C Andrew Bogut, to be named as an All-Star Game reserve tomorrow, celebrated by posting 9 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Monta Ellis led five other Warriors scoring in double figures with 17 points and 10 assists. Marco Belinelli also had 17. Rasheed Wallace made his debut for Seattle; finishing with 5 points and 2 rebounds.

Chara and Arenas Headline All-Star Reserves

Feb 11, 2011

NEW YORK (AP) – A slew of debutants will make their mark in the NBA All-Star Game including a surprising number of rookies.

Sacramento’s Moses Chara, who surprisingly missed out on a starting spot, makes his second All-Star appearance for the Western Conference. Memphis Gizzlies PF Martti Must and Golden State Warriors G Monta Ellis will both make their All-Star Game debuts. Utah’s Joe Johnson was a controversial addition as his team is last in the Western Conference. Althought he averages 25 ppg, many believed Denver Nuggets’ SF Carmelo Anthony or Houston Rockets’ SF Tracy Mcgrady would have been more logical choices.

Estonian Must is following in the footsteps of another European Grizzlies’ player. Must’s team is having a brilliant season as the Grizzlies find themselves in contention for a playoff spot; something that has not happened since they were led by Pau Gasol. Must is averaging 17 ppg, 9 rpg, and 5 apg for the season. Meanwhile, Ellis is averaging an impressive 20 ppg, 7.7 apg, 1.6 spg for the Pacific Division leading Warriros.

The Eastern Conference will see four players make their debuts. Orlando Magic PG Jameer Nelson and Milwaukee Bucks rookie PF Jay Gray were givens to be handed debuts for the game. Nelson is averaging 16 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 8.5 apg while Gray is putting up an impressive 18 ppg, 13 rpg, and 4 apg. However, the inclusion of New Jersey Nets PG Barney Steele and rookie C DJ Schmidt caused uproar around the league. Steele’s inclusion is debatable as he is the driving force behind the young Nets’ team; he is averaging 12 ppg, 6.3 rpg, and 8 apg. Schmidt is currently averaging 10 ppg and 7 rpg in his rookie year. Notable snubs included Boston Celtics PF Kevin Garnett, and Atlanta Hawks SF Josh Smith.

Wallace Agrees To Contract Extension

Feb 13, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – The Seattle Stealth moved quickly to extend the contract of newly acquired Rasheed Wallace. Wallace had 3 years added to his contract, meaning that it should take him into his retirement. The 36 year old forward was seen as a controversial addition to the Stealth due to the fact that the team had traded away promising youngster Jeff Green for the 15 year veteran.

Wallace’s ability to stretch defenses with his outside shooting along with his leadership in the locker room are seen to be qualities that would help the young and inexperienced Stealth. Jason Kidd has recently stated his happiness in the team acquiring Wallace, “We really needed another leader in the locker room and Wallace is welcomed with open arms.” All-Star C Andrew Bogut was another player who accepted the news of Wallace joining the Stealth positively, “To have a player of his caliber on the roster is great news. Sheed will be crucial if we want to contend for a championship.”

Wallace forms a potent second unit with the likes of veteran guard Raja Bell, solid backup forward Chris Wilcox, and role players Sebastian Telfair, Trevor Ariza.

Durant Can’t Wait For All-Star Game

Feb 14, 2011

SEATTLE (AP) – The self proclaimed best scorer in the NBA has vowed to put on a show in the NBA’s premier showcase of talent, the NBA All-Star Game. Kevin Durant, voted in as a starter for the Western Conference All-Stars, told journalists after a recent blowout win against the Golden State Warriors, “The fans wanted me to start because they want to see a good game. I’m ready to put up some big numbers against the East.”

Durant led the league in scoring last season and finds himself third for the current one.
