This gives readers an opportunity to see how certain teams are going and to give them an idea of what their rosters look like now. A new team is presented each month! Part Four will be the NLSC Rookie Focus.

TEAM REPORT

Scoring has never been an issue for the Denver Nuggets. Even before the team added Andrew Watson to their roster, the Nuggets were a dangerous offensive side. With Watson spreading the floor with his dead eye shooting, the Nuggets are unstoppable. What the team lacks though is a solid frontcourt.

Kenyon Martin and Nene provide two bodies in the paint but the team lacks any depth at those two positions. That was why the team has been barracking so hard to bring Toronto’s formerly disgruntled PF Chris Bosh onto the team. As Carmelo Anthony recently said, ‘Bosh would put us over the top.’

The trade never happened and the Nuggets continue on their merry way with Anthony leading the way. The Team USA and Nuggets captain does a bit of everything for Denver and is unlucky that there are so many good players at his position in the Western Conference that he may not even make the All-Star team.

The All-Star team isn’t on the player’s mind though as he claims ‘a championship is much more important to me than making the All-Star team.’ Although his team mates lobby for him all the time and state that Melo is often underrated and underappreciated by many NBA followers. “It’s an outrage that Carmelo didn’t make an All-NBA team last season. We were first in the West and we got no recognition. Melo should have at least been second All-NBA last season,” team mate Andrew Watson says.

Most of the others feel the same with Billups and super sub JR Smith voicing the same frustrations. However, that may be the secret to Denver’s success; always trying to prove their doubters wrong. That’s why they could very well make it all the way next June.

Nice report. Nothing new in Denver though. Melo's matured and still not rewarded. As for Chara, I guess he's polarizing with his personality and brings A game. That's what I like.

Interesting move by the Knicks. But I guess it won't help them. :D

Damn, Nene must be underrated in this association, as he is arguably the best center in the Western Conference irl right now. (Granted Yao is injured, and Amare is a PF)

Chara is more of a jerk than LeBron James. Funny how no one cares about Bron in this association. :)

Thanks Nissley. Long time.

Yeah, it doesn't. Only helps to sell tickets. Imagine Odom, VC, AI on the same team IRL... would you go watch them?

For some reason, all the big men are really shit in my association... might need to go on a ratings increase rampage? Dunno if that fixes it...

Monthly Recap: January
Part Four: NLSC Rookie Focus

Monthly Recaps are divided into several parts in order to give readers a quick and organized overview. Part Four of the Monthly Recap is the NLSC Rookie Focus where one NLSC rookie is chosen to be presented to you, the reader, in order for you to get to know them better. Part Five will feature the NLSC Player Focus.

Player Focus: Ray Lliach

# 2 | PG | Los Angeles Clippers (27-20) |
6’1” | 186 lbs | Age: 21 | Connecticut |
2010 Draft | Round: 1 |Pick: 7 |

Position Rank: 11th
Overall Rank: 51st
Role: Starter
Agent: "Everything is great! Thanks for the fantastic job.”
10-11 Statistics: 15.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 7.4 apg, 1.9 spg, 32.6 mpg, 47 GP, 47 GS

Coming off a national title with UConn in the college ranks, everyone knew that Ray Lliach was good. They never thought he was this good though. Many NBA scouts believed that Lliach would be a solid NBA player, at best. He wasn’t even the number 1 prospect at his position; that title belong to Raptors PG Chris Hova. Lliach sure has proved everyone wrong.

Lliach has shot into Rookie of the Year discussions whilst leading the Clippers in assists, steals, and coming a close second in scoring. Amare Stoudamire leads the team in points but must thank the rookie Lliach for that as the young Estonian has instantly gelled with the American PF. Lliach has shown an innate ability to get the forward the ball, a luxury he has not enjoyed since playing with Steve Nash in Phoenix two years ago.

The Clippers are surprising many with their winning record of 27-20 and a lot of that winning is a product of Lliach’s ability to run the team. The Clippers saw something in him that no other team saw and traded away Baron Davis in order to give him the keys to the team. Stoudamire’s NBA career seems to be blooming now as he plays in a bigger market, and Clipper fans are happy their team is actually winning.

“We have a really good balanced team,” Lliach says, “It’s a good fit for me because we play team basketball. I am really enjoying my time here.” With multiple players averaging double figures, Lliach is able to play in his own comfort zone. Often regarded as a player more suited to the European style of basketball, the Clippers are surprisingly playing that brand of basketball; particularly with their shooting, passing, and sharing of duties.

A surprisingly excellent on-ball defender, solid shooter, and outstanding playmaker, he has excelled on both ends of the floor in the NBA. The guard already holds career highs of 25 points, 13 rebounds, and 14 assists. Lliach is doing one thing that many NCAA winning players have failed to do; make a big splash in their first NBA season.

NLSC Rookie Statistics

James Carter 12.8ppg, 4.7 rpg, 4.3 apg
Kenneth Dela Cruz 5.1 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 2.8 apg
Chris Hova 8.0 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 4.2 apg
Ray Lliach 15.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 7.4 apg
Jeremy Mason 15.7 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.3 apg
Manfred Nissley 3.1 ppg, 0.4 rpg, 0.8 apg

I am still having great stats off the bench. That's the only thing coming to my mind right now ;) Keep it up, Sit.

Great article, my stats have exceeded my hopes by far, actually they look quite similar to Derrick Rose's rookie season, even slightly better(don't know about the FG% tho')

Good to see you got this one back up & running (Y) Always good to get deep into dynasties (I'm doing same with Southampton in FIFA 10)

Thanks man. Jose is actually having a solid season too and with Bosh having 28 and 10 or whatever, I'm surprised Raptors are where they are atm...

The next draft is the next one coming up I believe that you're in. :)

I bet you help the other players so they don't blow their finances. And you also help with tax evasion.

Yeah man, being in the third season is a new personal best. I had to go back to make sure I had only done 2 seasons with my Lakers. (on a sidenote, very interesting actually... that dynasty predicted a hell lot of things. I got Kwame Brown, Carlos Boozer went through a stage of being rumoured to become a Laker, Ratchuk was a young and super quick caucasian PG (Jordan Farmar?), and we ended up getting Ron Artest... and the Lakers won the Championship against the Boston Celtics (altho that did not happen IRL in the end)...)

So yeah, three full seasons nearly done and still having a lot of fun with this one. :)

Hows your Southampton going? I always find playing multiple seasons in FIFA easier than in NBA. :)

Martti Must Surprise MVP Candidate?

Memphis’ Martti Must is having a brilliant sophomore year in the NBA and even though his scoring has taken a bit of a dip as of late; there are people out there calling from him to be considered in the MVP race. Must’s case for MVP does not look very strong on paper, especially when comparing his numbers to those of LeBron James, Chris Paul, and Dwyane Wade. However, his effect on the Grizzlies is undoubted.

Selected by Memphis in the lottery last season, Must was never expected to flourish into the player he is today. Many scouts labeled him as too soft and too slow to play in the NBA. The former North Carolina Tar Heel has proven everyone wrong as he produces results on the court as well as quickly rising to be a crowd favorite.

Resurreccion: We Need Brand To Step Up

Zoilo Resurreccion is a smart guy and that is why the press loves to ask him for his take on the game. He even gets questioned before they talk to his captain and the Sixers’ best player Andre Iguodala. So when the question of ‘what the Sixers need for them to be a lock for this postseason’ came up, everyone listened to the wise words of Resurreccion.

“We need (Elton) Brand to step it up on the basketball court,” he proclaimed, “We need our big man to start playing well again.” Brand has struggled all season on both ends of the floor, averaging just over 14 ppg and 8 rpg.

Eastern Conference GM: Brock Could Be An All-Star One Day

One Eastern Conference manager has stated that he believes Philadelphia big man Byron Brock to be ‘brimming’ with potential. “He’s the Sixers’ answer to (the Lakers’) Andrew Bynum. This kid is big and he just has not got all the fundamentals down pat. But I bet that in a few years time, he’s going to be a star.”

The Sixers traded for Brock over the preseason and the behemoth has since been coming off the Sixers’ bench as their sixth man. Playing behind the likes of Samuel Dalembert and Elton Brand has been a good learning experience for Brock. He claims that the two big men have encouraged him and helped him become a better player this season.

I'm sitting third in Coca Cola League 1 (it's 3rd best division in England). My virtual pro is a LDM & plays rock solid defence. Game is highly addictive, that's for sure. I'm going to get back into it shortly since I'm at home sick after dealing with last week's worth of work e-mails. You are right about much easier to get through multiple seasons of FIFA than NBA. It's due to being able to play a FIFA game in 15 minutes (5 minute halves) & NBA games take about 45-50 minutes (9 minute quarters), so you can play 3 FIFA games for every one NBA game.

Good to see you are almost through 3 full seasons, which is where I got my Live '05 Bobcats one to before dbf data corruption meant I couldn't sim it forward :(

P.S. Chara is beast

I usually only play 4 minute halves for FIFA. :) I loved starting in A-League and my pro player was on verge of cracking starting team but lost interest in game as I started playing 2k9 more.

Who would you choose between Chara and Bron? lol

And I thought it was strange to see you online during the day!

It's hard to say who I'd choose. More likely to win with Lebron. Would only choose Chara if Mike K was my coach
