Monthly Recap: October/November
Part One: Team Report, Results, League Standings, Player Stats

Monthly Recaps are divided into several parts in order to give readers a quick and organized overview. Part One of the Monthly Recap provides the league standings and player statistics; divided into the two conferences. It also features the Seattle Stealth’s’ team report and results of games played in the last month. Part Two will feature news, player awards, and transactions.

Team Report

Seattle opened the season with a double digit win over the Miami Heat. After four games, the Stealth were at 2-2 but things started to go awry after Kevin Durant twisted his ankle in his side’s loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Despite bouncing back in the next game with a 2 point win over the Washington Wizards; Seattle would spiral out of control and find itself in the midst of a 9 game losing streak.

A shocking 131-98 loss to Cleveland prompted the Stealth to try and do something to reverse their fortunes. Jamaal Magloire was failing miserably in his stint as starting centre and publically called out for a trade. Seattle’s front office worked quickly and GM Will Sit produced a stunning deal overnight that leaves Seattle as major winners.

The team announced that they were trading Magloire and Adam Morrison in exchange for Andrew Bogut and a first round pick. While Seattle lost their starting centre and their best shooter; they gained the talented and hardworking Bogut. And as if that wasn’t a win for the team, Seattle gained a draft pick that may well be a lottery one.

The team’s low point of the month came on the night that the trade for Andrew Bogut was announced as the shorthanded Stealth was destroyed 151-110 by the Washington Wizards. Then, Bogut’s first two games with Seattle were lacklustre but the team’s last game of the month was thoroughly encouraging. However in just his third game, Bogut had 20 points, 16 rebounds, and 5 assists in Seattle’s 30 point win against the Golden State Warriors. Durant led the side with 26 points and off-season signing Raja Bell added 18.

I'm sure Bogut will help you down the stretch. You will be back to .500 in no time. :applaud:

Wow! Top 3 in assists per game.. Seems like I'll be having a great sophomore year..

December will be a different story for your team, I think by that time you are accustomed to playing with Bogut... Getting back to .500 is a possibility if things go well..

Hell, whats going on with the Stealth? I hope the Bogut trade will finally turn things around in the upcoming month. Definitely some interesting standing with Memphis up high whilst teams like the Celtics, Hornets or Pistons are struggling. Keep it up. Looking forward to the rookies.

I think Moses Chara might go down as the greatest SF to ever play the game....if he can help his team win that is :P

WTF at Memphis...that's just not right...
4-12 is a tough hole to climb out of, but i'm sure once your team gels, you'll find yourself back into the playoff race (Y)

Monthly Recap: October/November
Part Two: Around The League

Monthly Recaps are divided into several parts in order to give readers a quick and organized overview. Part Two of the Monthly Recap is the ‘Around the League’ recap, which features player awards, transactions, and other League news. Part Three will feature a Team Focus feature on the Chicago Bulls!

League Transactions

The Seattle Stealth and Milwaukee Bucks made a big deal happen after both teams found themselves at the bottom of the league after just two weeks of NBA action. Milwaukee sent their 2005 first overall draft pick, C Andrew Bogut, along with their 2011 first round pick to Seattle for the third overall pick in the 2006 draft, SF Adam Morrison, and veteran centre Jamaal Magloire.

Milwaukee effectively handed over their franchise to their second overall pick from the 2010 Draft, PF Jay Gray, and are looking to make some more moves during the season. Many league observers thought it was a coup that Seattle came away with Milwaukee’s first round pick in addition to Bogut. The young Australian big man was disappointed to be traded but lamented his lack of opportunity in Milwaukee and is hoping that his game will flourish in Seattle.

Adam Morrison signed a new contract in the Summer but the team deemed him expendable ahead of the likes of Jeff Green and Trevor Ariza. Morrison’s departure will help lessen the logjam at the SF position for Seattle. Magloire was not happy about being in Seattle and demanded a trade a week into the season and Seattle hurriedly sought a new team for him. Magloire will start at C for Milwaukee while Morrison should flourish in his role as a sixth man.

October/November Trades:

20 Nov – Celtics C/PF K Perkins traded for Grizzlies PG Q Ross
21 Nov – Stealth C J Magloire, SF A Morrison traded for Bucks C A Bogut, SG F Mendez, and 2011 First Round Pick

League News

Hedo Turkoglu Does Not Want Trade

According to the Dallas Mavericks: better late than never. The team signed SF Hedo Turkoglu during the Summer and have made a spectacular change of heart. Controversial Mavs owner Mark Cuban posted on his own internet blog that he did not want the veteran SF from Turkey to be a part of his team. He wrote: “We made a slight oversight and signed a 30 something year old to a contract. I don’t know how that happened but I’m pretty sure he’s not a part of our plans so I think it’s best we trade him.”

Turkoglu has insisted that he is happy where he is and does not want a trade. Despite his pleas, the team has been showered with trade offers from plenty of NBA teams. Those who seem most interested in his services are the New Orleans Hornets, Phoenix Suns, and Chicago Bulls.

Blazers Confident

Portland’s run to the NBA Finals last season surprised many but the Blazers are starting to prove that they may be the real deal. The side was written off prior to the beginning of this season thanks to losing Lamarcus Aldridge and Travis Outlaw in free agency. However, the Blazers have started the new season strong and with an aim to silence the critics.

Steve Nash is leading his side with 19.2 ppg and 6 apg. Carlos Boozer is adding 18.4 ppg and 9 rpg while Brandon Roy is throwing up 17.1 ppg and 6 apg. New addition Ben Gordon has also been proving to be a solid sixth man option. Portland finds themselves at the top of their division with an 11-5 record.

Atlanta Hawks Win With Team Work

At 11-7, the Atlanta Hawks have surprised many League observers with their ability to continue winning despite the loss of Joe Johnson to Utah. While Johnson and the Jazz lie at the bottom of the Western Conference; the Hawks continue to soar.

It’s a total team effort from Atlanta; led by Josh Smith in scoring at 17.2 points a game. The secret to the Hawks’ success is their team play and that is evident when noticing that five Hawks are averaging double figures in scoring.

Rudy Gay Happy In Cleveland

Former Memphis Grizzlies F Rudy Gay is happy with his new team and environment. Gay recently conducted a candid interview and stated how happy he was to play alongside LeBron James. He also stated that Memphis would never build a championship contender until they changed owners and front office staff.

In a harsh comment, he also criticised a number of his former teammates. Gay is currently averaging 16.7 ppg and 4.6 rpg for the 12-7 Cavs.

Of all the people here, you're the last one I expect to hate on Memphis. :P Come on man, I thought you predicted this was going to happen???

Well, remember we are in 2010-11... things are a-changing!!! :)

He was a very valuable part of our team.

Both have faded into obscurity...

The next generation of superstars: LeBron, Moses, Kevin. :)

Valor wrote:what about Scottie!?

Scottie is not the best SF to ever play the game. Sorry Valor. :P I would take Elgin Baylor ahead of Scottie... or even Larry Bird (Is he considered a SF?)... LeBron looks like he will one day be the best at SF. Pity that Pippen never got to show what he could be as 'the man' (in his prime)

Don't get too cocky... the Clippers were 1st in 08-09 after 1-2 months of play and look at them now... actually, that season they made playoffs I think but as a 5-6 seed lol and nearly missed it altogether!

tough to say whether Pippen would've even be as good as he was, without MJ setting the bar... might've been a 90's version of Matt Barnes otherwise; thankfully things didn't turn out that way :)

Yeah, Scottie landed in a good situation and deferred to his team mates. I don't know if he would ever have been a lead star... He seems to fit in more as a secondary star. Had a poor attitude too (I'm thinking of how he treated Kukoc)... but yeah, even based on his career, he is nowhere near being the best SF of the game. I don't know if he'd crack the Top 10...

Monthly Recap: October/November
Part Three: Team Focus

Monthly Recaps are divided into several parts in order to give readers a quick and organized overview. Part Three of the Monthly Recap is the Team Focus. This gives readers an opportunity to see how certain teams are going and to give them an idea of what their rosters look like now. A new team is presented each month and it is up to you to nominate one! Part Four will be the NLSC Rookie Focus.

Image

TEAM RECORD 9-8 (2nd Division, Tied-6th Conference)
TEAM CHEMISTRY 43%

TEAM ROSTER

Player | Statistics (PPG, RPG, APG)

PG Derrick Rose | 15.0, 4.0, 6.0
SG Jamal Crawford | 18.9, 1.4, 3.7
SF Luol Deng | 19.6, 6.5, 2.1
PF Harvey Morrison 8.6, 8.1, 2.9
C Marcus Camby | 6.5, 8.0, 1.1

- - -

PG Kirk Hinrich | 10.5, 2.8, 4.2
F/C Joakim Noah | 2.6, 2.9, 0.2
SG Bradley Emerson | 5.7, 1.4, 1.1

TEAM REPORT

The Chicago Bulls seem to be slowly getting there but are in for a few more tough campaigns as they struggle to add quality players to their playing roster. What the Bulls need is more talent in all departments.

Their star player is Luol Deng. The problem with him is that he is not a franchise player. Meaning: Deng is more of a secondary star; he is more Scottie Pippen than Michael Jordan. There are gaping holes at key positions such as C and SG. SG Jamal Crawford was signed as a short term fix for the Bulls’ lack of quality 2-guards. C Marcus Camby was also a quick fix for Chicago’s lack of frontcourt talent.

The lack of star-quality talent keeps hurting the Bulls. Ever since they traded away SG Ben Gordon in the 08-09 season, the team has struggled. Chicago really needs an All-Star calibre player and that is why there will be plenty of rumours come the trade deadline. Expect back up PG Kirk Hinrich to be at the centre of those rumours.

Although the past two seasons have been disappointing; there have been some flashes of promise over this bad period. 2008 Draft Pick Derrick Rose has continued to grow as a leader on and off the court. His numbers don’t jump off the page at you but he has shown continual growth and maturity; he is one of the top playmakers in the NBA right now.

2009 lottery pick PF Harvey Morrison last season cemented his place in the team’s starting line-up ahead of Joakim Noah. This season, he has upped his averages to a respectable 8.6 ppg and 8.1 rpg. The second year forward should one day average a double double but it remains to be seen whether he can become the elite NBA post scorer that Chicago desperately needs. 2010 lottery selection Bradley Emerson is expected to one day take over Crawford’s starting spot and the rookie has proven to be a positive locker room presence.

The Bulls are surprisingly staying ‘afloat’ but expect their record to drop as the season toils on as they simply do not have the depth nor talent to make the playoffs.

Valor, Deng is the leading scorer, go-to-man... Rose is good but just the team's playmaker... maybe he needs a boost in his ratings or something lol

Mon Aug 24, 2009 12:24 pm

Oh god Jamal Crawford back with the Bulls.... I bet they're throwing a party now. Replacing an efficient chucker in Gordon with an inefficient one with Crawford.

The Bulls' strength is pretty much their depth.... They're stripped of it now and haven't upgraded their talent. Guess Paxson isn't all that great of a GM as most people thought a few years ago.

Re: [A Legend Is Born II] - Oct/Nov Recap Part 3

Mon Aug 24, 2009 3:42 pm

Ben Gordon was traded a long time ago... to the Miami Heat in a really shit deal at the start of this association. Chicago has not done anything to make their roster better unfortunately. And they always choose the shitty generic rookies. :P If they picked an NLSCer... maybe things would be different lol
