NBA 2K11: Is it the shoes? (ESPN)

Postby Andrew on Thu Aug 19, 2010 9:45 am

Check it out here. Of note:

- There will be 40 shoes from the Jordan line in the game
- All 25 Air Jordans will be included
- The shoes will be automatically unlocked (in random order) every couple of hours of gameplay time, no matter which mode you're playing
- As mentioned elsewhere, the shoes will provide different boosts for My Player and Creating a Legend mode
- You can also view the history of each shoe in-game

Because I might be misunderstanding the article, can anybody clarify, will there be 40 shoe's total,(nike, reebok, etc.) Or 40 Jordan brand + others? Thanks.

I read it as 40 shoes from the Jordan line.

shoes can be unlocked anywhere in the game, whether you're playing online or franchise or practice mode. Your timer is always running and shoes are always unlocking.

And the order you get them in is random. It's strategically random where the rarest shoes in real life are the hardest to get and are unlocked toward the end while the common ones are unlocked upfront
Increasing the replay value. Still not a big fan of shoe specific attribute increase.

But he wore them (Jordan 1) and the NBA fined him every single game he wore them that season and the Bulls paid the fine.
It was Nike that provided the money for Jordan to pay the fines imposed on him by the league. Jordan or the Bulls were never the ones who paid for it.

Well, I believe that technically the players are required to pay the fines. It's just that the team usually cuts a check for the cost to the player. In this case Nike just did it. (Actually, they might have been required to pay the Bulls to pay Jordan, although this was right at the start of Stern's reign so that may have all been ignored back in the day.)

But ESPN can't be bothered to do basic research like that, what do you think they are sports journalists?

Like all journalism, there's a few floating around out there still. They've somehow escaped the Sandmen.

That is bad journalism.
The fine was a main thing in Nikes marketing strategy with the 1s.

Attributes seem fun, if they can balance them out, but then in real the 23 just tops the 5s in almost every aspect (sustainable, zoom air, stable, tpu shank...)

I really hope they get more than 40 pairs, especially not Jordans, Are there even 40 Jordan team players? maybe brands like Li Ning

A different 3d model would be great too, atleast one for hi and low tops.

I'm guessing that the 40 Jordan line shoes do include the 25 Air Jordans, leaving just 15 other Jordan brand shoes.

I hope each shoe will have multiple colorways.
