Wow, five games just to complete the challenge. Sweet.

The Flu Game
When: June 11, 1997. Game 6, 1997 Finals (not the last game of the series as it went to 7) vs. Jazz
Goal 1: Score 38+ points
Goal 2: Grab 7+ rebounds

Someone at 2K forgot to check their NBA facts. The flu game was game 5 and the Bulls finished it off at game six.
I'm also guessing that Jordan's stamina rating for this challenge will be really low.

For now, here are the Historic Teams that will be immediately available for you to play this year:

1985-86 Chicago Bulls
1985-86 Boston Celtics
1989-90 Chicago Bulls
1989-90 Atlanta Hawks
1989-90 Cleveland Cavaliers
1989-90 Detroit Pistons
1990-91 Chicago Bulls
1990-91 Los Angeles Lakers
1991-92 Chicago Bulls
1991-92 Portland Trailblazers
1994-95 Chicago Bulls
1994-95 New York Knicks
1995-96 Chicago Bulls
1995-96 Seattle Supersonics
1996-97 Chicago Bulls
1996-97 Utah Jazz
1997-98 Chicago Bulls
1997-98 Utah Jazz

Like current teams, you will get the opportunity to play all of these teams in Quick Game, Association, Playoffs, and Season mode. So want to find out how well your current team matches up with the best Bulls teams? 2010 Lakers or Heat vs. 1995-96 Bulls anyone? The possibilities are endless.

Nice. Can't wait to try these out:
1989-90 Cavs against the current Cavs, Sonics vs. Thunder, 1985-86 Celtics against the current C's, and the 1994-95 Knicks vs. the current Knicks (just for the lulz).

Didn't notice that, well-spotted. Good call on the stamina rating too.

I'll be using the 96 Bulls against the current Lakers.

 no wonder the 2k crew was so relaxed when Elite was revealed all of those new features. I bet their so laid back right now. You can actually tell they are because theyre not quick to release trailers, videos, and screenshots, etc. Theyre probably seeing those Elite developers as a joke. No respect.

I think the positive reactions to NBA 2K10 and the sales figures had a lot to do with as well. I mean for argument's sake, say the gameplay in NBA 2K11 isn't up to scratch; would the Jordan Challenge really matter? Who'd want to bother playing through the challenges if the game wasn't enjoyable to play? I don't know that it's an all-conquering trump card but it's certainly an enticing extra feature, though I'd expect there will be a contingent of gamers who don't care about it.

Being able to play with all these historical teams is fantastic news, really! But it's crushing news to me that you will not be able to play as the '85 Lakers. Understandably, they're only letting you play with and against teams that have had historical matchups with the Bulls, but with the '86 Celtics there, and the fact you can play as two Jazz teams only one year apart, I was really hoping you could play with the '85 (though I wouldn't contest too much if they used the '87 or '88 team, ha) Laker team, which is arguably one of the greatest teams ever assembled. It's been my hope for years that I could play with such a team in an NBA 2K or Live game, so it's sorry to see that even with these great opportunties in 2K11, it's still not possible :( But well, hopefully the MOD community could do something about that :D And at least I get the '91 Lakers team, which is no poor present..

Well, they did mention that those would be the teams that are immediately playable. That seems to hint at other historical teams being available and presumably unlockable.

I hope in the Jordan challenges that you can choose to have a player lock on Jordan like my player mode!

No realistic box scores in these folks...Jordan gets the ball every possession, and every possession must end with a Jordan FG attempt. This is gonna be fun. Reminds me of my opponents on 2kOnline who try to emulate this mode with Lebron and Kobe before it was announced.

Sounds good

I agree with 8 of the 10 challenges. I'm not a huge fan of the Dominique & the Sonics' one. I like the idea of playing in Jordan's freshman NCAA Title game for North Carolina to beat Georgetown, & also maybe that All-Star Game or maybe you could have slam dunk contest against Dominique.

The Blazers' challenge will be one of the hardest since MJ's 3pt ratings shouldn't be that good (say low to mid 70's at best). If they make MJ's 3pt rating close to 80 then it is a farce (N)

Hopefully they add more great unlockable teams from Jordan's era.

What if it's only boosted when playing with the 1992 Bulls within that challenge, similar to what shadowgrin suggested in terms of his fatigue rating for the flu game? It wouldn't be quite as challenging, granted, but it might be a good way of simulating how on fire he was in that game.

Considering the 'new' range of ratings (25-100) for 2K, even 70-75 is already a bit high for that version of Jordan. I think somewhere between 55-65 is about right and if he gets a boost for that challenge because of being on fire as Andrew noted, 70-80 rating should be the case.

No need for that comment. Of course they've worked on gameplay too. They try to make the game better each year and 2K is not know to just put gimmick features in the game.

2K10's gameplay wasn't very good. The AI was atrocious, and even with the right sliders, the game was the most arcadey installment to date. With Elite, EA is actually focusing on the gameplay, and for that reason, I'm leaning towards buying it.

I doubt that you won't find the same/other flaws in Elite. The problem with 2k10 is just, like with almost every game: if you play it too much, you notice the major flaws. That makes associations a worse gaming experience than playing a game here and there. So they definitely need to work on these bugs for us association gamers.

But right now, with limited time, I play a 5 min per quarter game with the 10/11 roster here and there and it's quite entertaining.

After like my second game in 2K10, I noticed that it was inferior to say, 2K7. My hopes for Elite aren't that high, but I thought Live had slightly better gameplay than 2K this last year.
