So I gave the game its minutes and can finally post my impressions here:

So what can I say? Basically, I think the game is impressive and the best basketball game I have ever played.

The graphics are awesome, simply because they have so many animations in there now, you hardly see any animations more than two times in a game and that's lovely. The presentations is wicked, the best in any NBA game so far.

The gameplay and controlls, I love them! Finally a basketball sim with real mid range game. With all the size ups and hop steps you can finally go for a jumper out of the dribble and beat your defender simply because he does not know wether you're gonna drive or take the shot. The new controls allow almost all layups and shots you can do in basketball and most of the time I do what I really wanted to do (although I still need to learn the new isomotion). Passing is way improved, the new dunks look very nice and I really love the good old shot stick timing.

The classic teams really make me cheer. Playing with MJ and Pip is definitely to my liking.
Association mode has gotten better, although I still think the trades are not always the best (like in RL though) and the fact that teams with home advantage win by double digits in Playoffs needs to be patched.
But on the other hand the new trade finder is decent and with all those animations, generated rookies really seem very unique (also thx to their new portraits). They even gave them accesoires and tattos this year.

Right now I try to get the Arena music into the game (good files over at OS) which makes the game even more realistic imho. Maybe I still need to find some bugs so that I can be as harsh as some of you guys are right now, but if you ask me: Best NBA basketball game ever made (I did not play the praised College Hoops 2k8 though)

Hey fellas Im wondering if anyone has the same problem as me right now.

My PC specs are as follows
I core 5 OC'ed to 3.8
4gig DR3ram
gigabyte Geforce GTX 460 overclocked

everything runs at a cool 38 degrees GPU runs at around 58 deg on overload

When I play 2k11 everything is butter smooth the only ONLY problem is when I get to the END game highlights( NOT THE PLAYER OF THE GAME THATS SMOOTH) but for instance signature highlights, it stutters . everything is pretty much on MAX and game plays without a hitch only on signature highlights or end game reels does it stutter. Anyone else experiencing this?

Aw, I thought 2k said it too, my bad. I do remember them saying there are no more canned animations. Like all animations can be broken out of. So those blocking animations are really the worst and probably the only true setback in a the game! Other things just takes time getting used too but the learning curve is very big this year! I like how we really have to work hard in my player this year.

NO ONE MAN SHOULD HAVE ALL THAT POWER!!

I had to install XBCD drivers, increase the deadzone of the sticks and lower their sensitivity to 40-45% instead of the default 60%, then I could move around and perform moves without the player going off in some direction first before performing the isomotion move. Only drawback having slightly less responsiveness, but it's not like 2K has really had good responsiveness anyways.

I just found out on the 2K forums that these moves only work with VSync enabled... :?

HEHE yea that card is a great pickup at the price, overclocked it real nice and stable. Still what bothers me is that the stuttering problem when I watch the end game reel. Maybe its a problem with the latest nvidia gpu drivers. Ill have to mess around with it.

Also btw I seem to have trouble pulling off some of these isomotion moves. From my understanding youhave to hold the left trigger and then toy with the left stick for the moves eh? Sometimes I feel its a bit inconsistent.

Overall the game's graphics & physics (especially allowing the ball to bounce anyway) are nice , although you can tell the shaders are missing!
After a full day free of assignments, I was able to enjoy a day with the game. And mane, its crazy how overrated it is, well actually the blocking animations are horrible, plus the difficulty to stop all-stars are just DUMB! Mane, I got so mad at the fact that Amare, Garnett, & Pau did the same moves and didnt miss it not once, no matter if double team came or not!! Plus, I tried to lay the ball up and was morphed into a 180 turn towards Amare so he can block my shot! Still angered about everything that was happening, the only thing I could think of was "NO TWO PLAYER ANIMATIONS MY ASS!!!

I know exactly what you mean. I put the quick game on superstar level against the nuggest and the cpu hit thee most ridiculous shots and everything was going in not to mention thats its about 10 times harder to put a body on them. They literally just walk through you and dunk right over you. I got destroyed badly lol

Yea thats a monster graphic card. I have Dual 260 GTX and I'm still not coming close to yours! Still is running smoothly though. I think the slight shutter is the game trying to load the visual effects because I get it a bit too.

You can't hold turbo while doing isomotions, just continue to practice without using turbo and you will become familiar with it!!

ALSO: They are going to tell you not the double post like that!

Don't like that the box score can't show quarter by quarter stats like the team stats (during game) shows.

Re: Official 2k11 Impressions Thread

Sat Oct 09, 2010 7:51 am

My Left trigger isnt the turbo my right trigger is... so your saying isomotion is done with the left stick all by itself?

Re: Official 2k11 Impressions Thread

Sat Oct 09, 2010 8:50 am

i think turbo is right by default dunno maybe he swapped them like i did since i configured my controller the same as last years game.

you really need to go into practice freestyle mode and do the step by step tutorial, iso is done with the movement stick and different trigger presses depending what you want to do.

Re: Official 2k11 Impressions Thread

Sat Oct 09, 2010 9:00 am

Only some moves. There are contextual crossovers when changing direction, and the behind the back move is done only with the left stick. The left trigger needs to be used for isomotion moves. Check out the practice mode in the game for a tutorial.

And try not to double post. :)

Anthony Randolph just dropped 31 and 17 on me. Anyone got a decent set of sliders?

I'm pleased with the scores in this game. FG% tends to be in the forties, and Sim mode seems designed for 12 minute quarters. This is kind of unfortunate though, since games with reasonable scores are now quite a time suck.

I think why big men ate so beastly in 2k11 is because the default slider for "Look for man in post" is 80

guys i have the pc version.. im just wondering if the 2k10 graphics is much better than 2k11? but the moves and animation is so smooth.. but graphics wise, i think 2k10 is much better.. is it just me?

I'd say they're the same, if anything.

On simulation setting, yes that's true. I'm probably going to run with custom settings. Use sim as base & adjust accordingly.

Got the game fri afternoon and havernt touched the Jordan or my player parts of the game just been lovin the gameplay in quick games vs cpu/friends and online.

Association mode is gonna be sick with this gameplay once ive finished my sliders and got my rosters up to date.

Yes! I thought it was my PC just being old but it's lame graphic for PC users. I feel a bit of relief. It's not fair to have worse graphics than last year. The texture in the jerseys with those shadows seems so bleak but the gameplay fixes all it's amazingly improved. As well as the presentation.

Iam working on some 12 minute quarter superstar sliders myself at the mo but everytime i start thinking ive got it right i them slide to "sim" during games and that feels better :?

Work in progress , and for some reason i cant stop picking the Warriors to use but i think its because i rock with isomotion with Ellis and Curry (Y)

Your sliders were good in 2K10 (albeit very difficult) but you may need to rethink things now that the CPU plays D. I'm kind of working on some sliders which is essentially just a modification of the sim sliders (and using real player FG%)

Yeah i was trying out the "real player %" but i sometimes felt like id lost control of my shooting a bit but on another note iam really happy that the cpu is playing defence now it makes the gameplay so much more fun.

One thing that is getting on my nerves at times is the cpu fast breaks when playing on superstar or Hall of fame but iam sure it can be tweaked.

Question for those who buy pc version. Menu looks like ps3/xbox? or like in 2k10?

Re: Official 2k11 Impressions Thread

Sun Oct 10, 2010 6:36 pm

Menu is the same as 2K10. But it looks mildly fancier and seems to work slightly better.

Re: Official 2k11 Impressions Thread

Why pc menus is not the same as PS3/xbox?

Re: Official 2k11 Impressions Thread

Unexplained reasons.
