http://www.fullsailblog.com/grad-joey-morelli-gives-us-a-first-look-at-nba-live-14/This year marks the return of EA Sports’ long-running NBA Live series, with NBA Live 14 hitting shelves on November 19. The franchise has been a staple of sports video games since the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo days, with annual entries stretching from 1994 through 2009.
After a four-year layoff, the studio has revamped the game engine, play mechanics, and graphics exclusively for the upcoming next generation consoles Playstation 4 and Xbox One. We recently got some insight into what players can expect from the experience from Full Sail Hall of Fame inductee Joey Morelli. Joey is a 1998 graduate of our Digital Media program, and has been with the sports entertainment giant for over half a decade contributing to other titles like Tiger Woods PGA Tour, NCAA Football, and Madden NFL.
He is NBA Live‘s senior video editor/compositor, and shared with us this preview trailer that he worked on. The visuals obviously make the most of the extra horsepower of the latest machines, with Joey explaining, “This is a big one, a new game and it is looking like a winner.”
Joey also gave a behind the scenes glimpse at some of the video and motion capture sessions they did with Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving, who is the cover star for the game. The following gallery is a quick look at the amount of work that goes into just one component of getting a realistic sports title on shelves.
