Hope those aren't the player models. They all look like they could use the gym.
Wed May 22, 2013 6:02 am
they already stated that it wasnt a pc release i thought...... but the body looks weird, tall and gumpy and the hunchbacks are back, very disappointing to see for me
Wed May 22, 2013 6:37 am
Irving the cover?
Wed May 22, 2013 10:02 am
This guys are like a manga cartoon... Graphics ok, playability still unknown but some faces, bodies and the player movements into the trailler, really sucks.
Bye Bye EA - 2K Sports crew/stuff are celebrating!
EA is dead...

Sad day, hopefully, when the average PC's processing power is a lot higher, they will port Next gen.

listen, we've been hearing that for the last couple of years
if you want to play with big, 'roided out freaks, go play MLB 2k13 or WWE '13

yikes, look at those legs and ankles, especially rubios.
Live 14:
Real life:
Way off.

as much as i want live to succeed, what the flipping hell have they been doing for a year!?!
seriously do they even listen to fan feedback?? what do the programmers think when they see this " OH THIS LOOKS GOOD!? "
just wow, this is pathetic they could do much better. they had plently of time to rebuild the engine and get rid of the hunchback and skinny legs
clearly in the video you can see the ackward animations like they skip a few frames, it isnt smooth.. just wow EA
Wed May 22, 2013 4:44 pm
am I the only one wondering why Rubio has a red knee brace on?
Wed May 22, 2013 4:59 pm
Everyone calm down, this is just a pre-rendered video that probably has little to do with the actual game. It's likely farmed out to an outside studio, I don't know if EA has their own or contracts, but the Live dev team probably had little input into this as they're working hard on the game. Though they might have shared a few core assets. (Like the arena especially.)
I'm sure the actual game is probably in an even worse state.
You thought I was going to be an optimist for half a second didn't you Jao...

the short-shorts are a bit weird in the screenshot. and kevin love is looking mighty trim these days.

I wanna quote everybody just to say, YES... I TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY AGREE!
WTF...
Why EA come to this road end, it's was the same with the Fifa series, the graphic is FUCKING AMAZING, but Messi is like a Hockey player, slicing into the ice, oh sorry... Field!
Pathetic.
Eletronic Arts were the best in sports game, it really frustrating and disapointing to a fella like me to see this...
Embaracing in certain way.

I agree that the models looked awkward, but why are people whining over a CGI based trailer????
Wed May 22, 2013 11:35 pm
Cause the first look is everything, and that works like a date.

Nope. Muscle definition.
Not everyone who goes to the gym want to be 'roided out freaks, some just do so for maintenance of body weight and improve muscle stamina (which also defines your muscles) instead of bulking out.
The lack of sweat also makes it worse, they have smoother skin and long feminine body than benji.
KG in 2K13 at mid settings looks better than the models in that trailer. Heck even the past NBA 2K games for PC at the same mid settings looks more defined than those in the trailer.

In all honesty this is a very bad sign dude.
EA had AMPLE time to CHANGE NBA Live for the better. This first look at the game indicates that they really haven't learned anything and still are not putting forth the effort to turn Live around.
It's almost like a company that sells a product that's known for being bad quality...when they want to push for a change of direction one of the first things they do is re-brand the product so when you release to the public they feel it's new and fresh, and things will be different. Different logos, different visual look, different motto.
These models look too similar to the crap they've been known to put out. This looks like Disney's version of the NBA!
Of course, we could all be wrong (I honestly hope so), but this isn't a good indication, especially after having yrs off the market.
Plus it doesn't look like they'll release for PC, which is already bad news.
If I was a betting man, I'd put all my chips on Live 14 sucking.

Did some photoshop stuff with real images of Rubio and it looks like his virtual cgi arms are one extra hand length longer, and his legs are at least one foot and ankle longer than they are in real life. This reminds me of the Live 06/Live 07 models with the incredibly long limbs. I hope the models are not representative of the final product.
Qballer wrote:the short-shorts are a bit weird in the screenshot. and kevin love is looking mighty trim these days.
Not short-shorts, but super long legs with height boosting orthotics and platform sneakers. Legs so long, the relative short's length borders on the line of daisy dukes.

I'm going to disagree that the graphics look "cartoonish", but that's because I hate the term given how ill-defined and meaningless it is. I would agree that the player models are too thin and there are some stiff animations; those are more appropriate terms to use. We've really got to stop using lazy buzzwords like "cartoony" and "cartoonish", it's not a particularly apt comparison. Anyway, just a pet peeve of mine.
As I said in the other thread, from an aesthetic point of view I'd rather wait and see actual gameplay footage. It's also there that we'll see aspects like AI, player movement in five-on-five scenarios and so on, which is going to tell us a lot more. I can put up with body models that aren't quite right or even the odd quirky animation here and there, if the AI is good, the controls are responsive and all that. If it plays well but doesn't look quite right, it's at least playable and I can work with that. If it's a letdown in those areas too though, then there's obviously not too much going for it. I guess we'll see, when actual gameplay footage comes.
