A new sports engine from EA Sports is also stated to be discussed at E3.
Wed May 08, 2013 10:06 am
Is the said new sports engine the same engine Elite 11 used? If so lololololol.
Wed May 08, 2013 12:08 pm
Probably the same engine they are working with now, I'm sure their talking about the graphics with Live. The graphics in the leaked video is a drop down from the actual game. I'm curious if it's going to be something similar to the Frost Bite graphics.

They've probably been working with the same engine for a while now, so hopefully it has a suitable amount of polish at this point.
I suppose this more or less confirms that the series is returning this year, or at least that's the intention. Presumably there'll be some official announcements and content on the official website at some point in the near future, perhaps closer to E3. It also remains to be seen whether it's next gen only and whether we'll see a next gen PC port.

what i would like to know is the timeline between the game's release and the release date of the next-gen consoles. if the PS4 comes out in November or December, the game would've been out for a month or 2, which I tihnk helped NBA 2k7's sales on PS3. They'll probably still make PS3 & 360 versions of the game

I wonder if there is a clause in the contract with the NBA regards to new consoles that titles can be released when the console is released so if it is November or December they have until then I doubt it though but would be beneficial for the dev teams for both EA and 2K

I feel EA is better off sticking with PS4/whatever and not releasing something for PS360.

In Fiscal 14, we will release 11 major titles across consoles and on the PC. This includes our core sports titles – Madden, FIFA, FIFA Manager, NBA LIVE, NHL, and NCAA Football , as well as Need for Speed, Battlefield, Command and Conquer , and from our partners at Insomniac, FUSE.
Am I reading this wrong or did he just say that all those titles are coming to the PC as well as consoles?
Regarding next generation consoles, we are under a non - disclosure agreement with our platform partners, however, we’re planning a full reveal at E3 including more next generation titles in development for FY14. This will include breakthroughs in graphics and gameplay for some of our biggest franchises including Battlefield, FIFA, Madden, NBA LIVE, and Need for Speed. We plan to unveil new titles from EA SPORTS, Bioware, and ICE and a first look at some brand new games.
This basically tells me that the "11 major titles" are coming to ps3 and 360 as well.

I'll let the earnings report itself kill that rumor.

I completely agree with you there. but looking back at NBA 2k7, they had a PS2 version (which i bought) and then released a PS3 version when it came out that year... I think it was in December iirc. I wound up buying the 20GB PS3 when we got a returned one at the Circuit City I worked at and saw that the PS3 version was way better so I upgraded to the PS3 version of the game. That being said, supplies of PS4 at the launch may be limited compared to the millions (and millions) of the PS3s currently sitting at homes. That might be too much money for EA$PORT$ to pass on, especially since they've been out of the game for 2 years I think they are desperate for any kind of return on Live/Elite

Yes but 2K7 was ported over from 2K7 360 which had a 2K6 360 version to build from. And of course, a long running PS2 line of games.
EA has nothing for this generation right now. Nothing to do a 2K7 PS2 update with, aka a roster update, art update, and some audio. Due to the leaked specs of the next gen consoles, and the PS4 conference details, we know that the internal architecture of the consoles are very different. If EA releases for PS360 and next gen, I feel like they will be developing 2 basketball games, based on the assumption you can't easily program for both (damn you Watchdogs and Ass4 for ruining that hypothesis).
But disregarding that argument, think of it this way. They obviously have some kind of new engine they were hinting at with the graphics and the physics and the heebie jeebies. Why tarnish a next gen reveal and debut with a subpar current gen game?

Unfortunate, but not unexpected.

Madden 25 continues to be the stupidest thing ever. Bet it sells 20 billion copies.

oh yeah i forgot about the 360 version. yeah i dont think they had the time/resources to make 2 games (hell, they couldnt even make 1), so i think theyll probably go only next gen. but if its only next-gen, the timing question is still there if ps4 doesnt come out before november

One concern I'd have about next gen Live is how long they had it under development before Live 13 got canned. And how far back Live 13 truly got canned and things shifted over. (Is this why they appeared to dust off parts of Live 10 and try to rework that? Did Live 13 never get itself together because they put a good chunk of the team on next gen and then tried to cobble together something real quick with a smaller team for this gen?)
I think we can all agree, Live does not need a Live 06 and 07 back to back again to open a generation.

No question. Unpolished gameplay and no Dynasty mode isn't going to cut it.

Agreed hopefully EA has a better transition method for this next gen cycle. Sony have appeared to be better with dev kits for publishers/developers than previous cycles.

Damn, that means I haven't purchased a Live game this gen. A whole generation was lost. Unbelievable.
Hopefully they can salvage the franchise in next gen.

Live 10 was a pretty decent game, you should give it a shot and can probably pick up a copy for really cheap now. i had a lot of fun with it
