Does NBA Live 13 stand a chance against NBA 2K13 ?

What would NBA Live 13 have to bring to the table to compete with NBA 2K13 ?

Have great graphics, innovative gameplay, solid game modes and have functional online play.

NBA 2K12 isn't that great of a game, with its fair share of annoying gameplay bugs/issues. I played 2K11 for a whole year, I only played 2K12 until I unlocked all the legends.

Nba2k seems to have a great game every other year if we don't count 9 and 10. I think 2k12 was one of those games where they experimented and added things that they didn't have enough time to truly polish. I foresee 2k13 will be a good game.

I think Live 13 will most likely be successful by word of mouth as there are too many skeptics from EA's past releases to hop on immediately. On the contrary, there is a lot of interest looming in what EA Tiburon will be able to to accomplish with this first release after having a longer development cycle. I personally think we will see a game with the quality and polish of NBA Live 09. I don't think it will compete directly with 2k13 unless 2ksports really screws up.

I think there's enough dissatisfaction with 2K at the moment over online issues and bugs in NBA 2K12 to have left the door open for NBA Live 13, and there does seem to be a decent amount of interest out there already. If it can deliver a solid product, I think it definitely stands a chance, probably mostly through word of mouth as Pat said. NBA 2K13 will likely still get the most sales but NBA Live 13 could still achieve respectable numbers and set themselves up for future success.

I think NBA Live 13 should show the commentators faces in the game similar to what Madden NFL 13 is doing.

Sounds fine to me, though there's a bunch of other stuff I'd like to see first and I'm not sure that it'd have too much of an impact on the success of the game.

whoa that's pretty cool. unnecessary, but cool. but i think that's an extra that you throw in when you got nothing else to work on... madden's at that point but that's something that's not a priority when you're bringing the series back from the dead

Agreed. If they can find a way to work it in then that'd be cool, but like I said there's a few things I'd like to see done - presentation and otherwise - before they think too much about that.

We need to be careful when we say this because the last time we did, they decided to make Elite 11.

I personally think the most important thing is a consistent balance of all the elements of the game and making sure they are polished and ready when the game is released. I don't want any unfinished, untested features where they left them in even when they couldn't finish them.

I think it's important that we mention exactly what we want to see, when the opportunity to provide feedback arises. Statements like "better gameplay", which I see so often when compiling the Wishlists, are vague and open to interpretation and experimentation, with the results not always what we want to see. That's why I feel it's crucial to mention what we like as much as what we don't like, so we can make it clear what's working, what's working but could be better, and what we want to see changed.

To succeed, it needs to deliver across the board. Strong gameplay, solid game modes, robust online support, slick presentation and appealing graphics.

If they're use better game engine like impact engine in Fifa 12, better gameplay, presentation and game mods, of course they've a bigger chance against 2K13...

Also if they improve their controls as Elite 11 had messy controls that I didn't want to buy it.

the grphics will be better than in nba live 10 and i think nba live 10's graphics was alredy better tan the 2k12 graphics they are also using the same animation engine as in fifa and fifa has perfect animations so im really confident that nba live 13 will be way better than nba 2k 13

I wouldn't go that far. NBA 2K has had years building on a solid foundation and are a long way in front in terms of game modes and gameplay (though I still prefer Live's approach to controls, from NBA Live 2003 through NBA Live 10). I feel it has a chance of putting forward a very respectable effort, still looking good when comparing the two games and winning back some of the audience.

If it does surpass NBA 2K13 in any area though, it'll be online. 2K just can't seem to get it together there.

I personally that NBA Live should do something that 2K hasn't done yet. The thing I'm talking about is a draft list. From year one of your dynasty to the current season you are on you see a draft list. You will see the list of what team drafted where, who they drafted, trades that happened on that night etc etc etc.

I've seen you pitch that one before.

While it's a cool idea for Dynasty Mode, it's hardly something that'll put the game over the top. If the gameplay isn't up to scratch, if Dynasty Mode as a whole is still lacking, it's not really going to matter. I think it's something they should do, but there's a lot of other bases I think the game needs to cover first if it wants to succeed and win back the fanbase.

Then isn't that basically saying it stands a chance after all, provided it does those things? That's basically what we've all said so far.
