Hi there, I'm from over at thebreakaway .net. A site similar to this one, but about hockey. Now that site is relatively dead unfortunately (especially modding wise). But I was wondering if anyone could possibly assist me in opening a .ebo file. I have ebodit v0.2 and ebo editor. I prefer to run them on a Windows XP VM for compatibility reasons.
I was doing some searching and came across this site and saw that many of you are experienced with .ebo files. I get the dreaded "Run time error '9' Subscript out of range". If you would assist me with this file I would be eternally grateful.
PM for the file
Thanks,
Kroger

ebodit was most likely not programmed to handle the ebo file you are using. It was only made to edit stadiums and headshapes at the time, and never updated.

does the original ebo editor work at all with what you are trying to do?

Well supposedly what I'm supposed to do is take the helmet cage from the file and insert it into like an arena file (ie jumbotron or something). I have no idea how to do this via hex editing though. Would you guys happen to have an idea?
Sun Sep 25, 2011 6:00 am
Both of us, actually. As long as that arena can be opened in an editor, it can work.
Sun Sep 25, 2011 5:43 pm
Alright, do you have any idea how I go about doing so? I can open the arena files. I don't know where I should hex edit, however. I would definitely be willing to learn to do so.

essentially you look for areas in the hex that have a lot of @'s in the text side. Copy that out into an ebo that can be edited with the ebo editors, and replace some of that ebo's @'s with the one you want to edit.
In other words, it's been a few years, I forget. And Pat, those offsets you gave me are on my old computer.

I probably have them bookmarked somewhere. phatkroger10, upload the ebo you want to edit, i'll see if I can help you.

http://www.mediafire.com/?23p325perf62j1nhttp://www.mediafire.com/?ubw5icp55soosjcThe top is the Goalie Visor I would like to attempt to edit, but can't.
The bottom one is just a jumbotron file from a stadium, that is editable. Let me know if you need a different file, there's a couple various ones that will are editable.

Yeah, I understand it's been awhile, so I'm more than willing to be patient and have you check it over for me. I'm really in no hurry. Thank you for all your help guys, I really appreciate it.

Sorry for a triple post.. But if you guys are at all interested in assisting me (I'm not too experienced with ebodit), I'm attempting to make the goalie cage into this for all skaters:

This came about once in the forums, but the guy soon there after became inactive on the forums and modding all together. I'm trying to recreate it, because this is a very integral part of my mod.
Thanks again!

Is that not selectable? Maybe you could just replace the cage file with the one from the goalie, and rename it to match the replaced one?
Tue Sep 27, 2011 2:15 am
Yeah that is the ultimate goal. I'll try to explain as best I can. The players are only allowed to have half shield visors and no cages or full visors. That is why I am trying to edit the goalie visor, it already has bars instead of glass in it (easier to edit). However the goalie cage is a cross pattern (looks kind of like the Under Armour logo, I will post pics after class) because they haven't used a cage like the players since the early to mid 90s. But yeah, once I can edit this I would like to just rename it to make it compatible for players.

Oops, my mistake. I accidentally uploaded the wrong file I am attempting to edit. I am looking to edit the ghelmet file, and extract the mask off of that. Here is the correct file:
http://www.mediafire.com/?19pt0f9dn18crjqAnd here is a photo of what happens, to what you suggested:
Tue Sep 27, 2011 6:06 am
Here ya go. The data for the visor is at 628 to 700 if you open it in with a hex editor. After ebo editing, replace the gvisor.ebo data at 2e0 to 3b8, and you should be good to go.
Just to let you know, there is no way that you can do this with that file. There is not enough data in the goalie visor, and you cannot add vertices. If that cage comes from a different game, you are better off trying to convert it. I think the original goalie cage is what is needed to make that cross pattern.
I heard the breakaway is completely gone now. That's a shame.

I thought you already had the full cage file. Otherwise, how did you get that screen of the player with the full cage? Guess it was an old preview that never surfaced?
That's going to be a big problem with the cage as part of the helmet. What NHL game is this? I might have it.
Tue Sep 27, 2011 7:23 am
Yeah, my mistake. I uploaded the incorrect file. The game is NHL 09. The guy who released the photo was a modder over at thebreakaway, but he never actually released it (I don't know why, he just kinda disappeared). Sorry I totally didn't even realize that I uploaded the incorrect file until I put it into my game. This one is in fact, the correct one. Sorry for being a pain in the butt.

it looks like a file replacement with a missing texture
at the end of the ebo, if you get that pinkness, you can change the texture names to match up with a fsh texture that is already on the player.
Tue Sep 27, 2011 8:39 am
You are correct, but I am planning on shrinking the actual goalie helmet so it does not appear. Since this is a skater, the corresponding player ID does not match a file with goalie equipment. I don't think this will be the problem. I'm only interested in the cage off of the goalie helmet.
Tue Sep 27, 2011 8:43 am
Do you know if the regular helmet is under that goalie helmet?
Tue Sep 27, 2011 9:03 am
I am almost positive because the helmet.ebo has remained untouched.
Also you can see the white emerging from the pink (missing texture) file.

Nothin'?

I would at least appreciate a response informing me that you're unwilling to further help me. I've been making progress with the file above, but it appears to be segmented into various files. I cannot figure out how to edit the file in it's entirity without breaking it apart. However, your responses have been helpful and I'm close to understanding the files on my own.
Tue Oct 04, 2011 4:21 am
Sorry about that. I forgot. Will get it to you in a few minutes.

Someone is certainly demanding.
