Im going to post my two cents for this (I believe it's becoming a historical moment in the life of a long term game) situation that the game is going through:

The decision of not releasing Elite punched all of us, including the ones that don't own a PS3/XBOX, but as a Live series fan as I am this whole story really clicked me. Since I played my first Live game I've had good times with EA, the excitement of waiting for upgrades every year, the intros, the gameplay. It was a major letdown for me (PC user only) seeing major improvements in consoles and being forgotten as a loyal user from Live 06 on. I felt disrespected, mocked and overlooked as a loyal buyer of the game for so long. It was painful watching the video teasers on youtube since 06. And wishing every year "Please port the game to PC, please!". I remember loggin in this forum and watching the news wishing the final port form the console to PC. And every year was the same: "Next year, for sure". It was that way every year, but with every PC release we got the same, and even a worse, version of Live 2006 with minumum improvements, tweaked rosters and off. Man, it was hard to stay cool with EA. And the inevitable end of Live 08, weak game and the last one.
Then 2k all of the sudden surprise us with not only a good game, with solid concept of simulation gameplay/presentation (something I had asked in all previous Live releases). Plus paying attention to the details that we all thought. Improving, making hard work every year. And that man it's just right, you feel you deserved to be treated like that by a game, it's the way EA should have treatened us in the first place. After getting my first copy of 2k10 I felt like blessed, I never expected it due to the reluctance (or inability I thought) of EA to finally port a good version of the game.
We had good times Live 2000, 2003 and 2004. Exciting ones as well. The waiting of the release and the enjoyable of seeing good games with improvements.

It's becoming a real interesting story this ELITE thing, wheter it's going to be realeased or not. The surprise of the announcement of 'delaying' the game and all.

For me after watching the DEMO teasers on the web, the jesus video, the freethrow dunking and stuff it was hard. I could see this coming, it was hard to see a good game that you loved fail so much. Especially with 2k being around and being so solid. In the other hand, well...the way I felt as a pc loyal user being disrespected every single year kinda make it hard not stay mad with the damn EA.

I hope they come back strong, either next year or this one. With a solid game, I believe EA can do it again. They've done in the past, they knew how to for so long. I hope they please us all with a good game of basketball. Even for PC.

Cheers
