What's up with the Elite 11 bashing out there?

Thu Sep 23, 2010 4:29 am

Pretty much every one I know, every comment I read on the internet says that 2k owns EA again.
Can the people out there really tell the difference by looking at the screens?
Ok, now the demos are releashed, but I've heard the rants way before that.
Anyone else think that NBA elite 11 is treated unfairly by fans?

No! They game they released this year is a complete rubbish! I changed to Nba Live 10 last year and I loved
the changes they had made to this game. So I hoped we would be treated with even better game but this is
one of the worst sports games that I have ever played on my ps3.
Meanwhile when 2k is delivering us the cream of the crop with this year game. I really can't say nothing bad
about it right now, but let's see what happens when it releases.

REAL EA/NBA LIVE Fans Are Not Liking This Game....People that are praising it, haven't laid their hands on the game yet or trying to find something positive. The only things good about this game is the features. Be A Pro is fun in this game, I can't lie, If I get the game, it's the only thing I'm doing, but when it comes down to the 5v5 gameplay, It's not even there at ALL. Those guys sitting at the desks need to get their jobs in check and stop collecting paychecks. I know these guys work hard, but the thing that bothers me, is that, how can they not see that this game has so many issues. It's like NBA Live 07 all over again.

I respect Andrews review of the demo, and see what he sees, but I really can't agree with it fully at all . .. This is a tie with NBA Live 07 in respect to outcome of projects, and I don't think 07 even had a demo. I think if you wanna buy Elite, you have to wait until next year, if not, then the people making the game need a reality check. I respect their hard work, but the outcome is not good. I found a reason to like Live 08 and 09, but Elite 11 is a mess that need a whole lot of work. The 1st NHL when they switched over wasn't all that, but the next year they improved it. . and now look at it. I really hope these guys are going in the same direction

EDIT:

This guy said the exact same thing I just said LOL

I stand by my impressions, though I don't disagree with the criticisms of the animations. I think I will enjoy NBA Elite 11, especially if there's some good news on the Dynasty front, but I can see NBA 2K11 performing better across the board and doing better in sales.

I think the game is getting bashed a lot more then past games the thing is its not being bash my just 2k lovers its being bashed by Live lovers like myself. I have never bought a 2k game I am a LIve fan all the way. This year I will not be buying Elite. I generally think that it has brought so much change that it has made the Live fan more frustrated then pleased. I have tried and tried to play the demo I don't get any enjoyment out of it. Live 10 was definetly not a bad game and it gave 2k a run for its money it just didn't have the depth that 2k had. So why would Elite basically start all over instead of build on top. I also think they underestimated how frustrating the drasitic changes would make.

Taking out turbo and making it player change and pass was a big mistake especially for live fans who have been using that turbo button for years it becomes very confusing. everyone goes the same speed, animations and graphics don't look good, it really just is not a fun game, i have more fun with NBA Live 10.

HEre is the most interesting thing. That Elite feels it has to put out a in-depth demo where they give you a full fourth quarter, become legendary mode, practice mode, one on one mode, and tutorial, while 2k just gives you one 4 min quarter and thats it, yet more people are excited about 2k. I think its because they have not made drastic changes they made drastic additions and improvements so even though they give us a short demo we know the game is still going to be great because of all the additions and improvments. Whereas with Elite we are say man am I'm going to like this game, should I even buy it, most Live players are not even liking the drastic changes. Its really bad in my opinion

I'd still disagree that taking out turbo was a mistake; it's only confusing because it's new, I got used to it pretty quickly. I'd agree deeper control customisation is in order but I don't miss turbo as much as I thought I might when that news first broke.

Can't really speak with respect to Elite, given that I haven't got around to downloading the demo yet, but I know with Madden, where turbo was removed by default but could be re-enabled, its removal was a pain. I had to turn auto turbo off because my players started running too quickly too soon, getting tackled rather than waiting until the defender in question was blocked. The inability to choose exactly when you want to sprint can make things difficult.

Heck if they implemented the turbo system from Live '01 at least.

I haven't played the demo yet, but could it just be that since they changed the controls a lot it takes a long time to get used to and that's why people are bashing it? I mean, when I was looking at the demo videos of all the moves, I thought to myself "heck there are so many controls to learn" so could it be, once you learn all the moves, you can fully enjoy the game as it was meant to be played? Indeed that was the selling point for Elite was it not? The whole idea of being in control.

That's just my opinion, but since I haven't played it yet, there might be too many moves which can be exploited which I'm not aware of

I'll download the demo when it's available for silver in a few days. In the meantime, I was relating a relevant experience from another game.

I do think that's part of it and I feel that there have been some knee-jerk reactions to that end, but the criticism of the animations and certain other issues is justified.
