Hey guys, I have every NBA Live since the turn of the decade/millennium and I am not sure to buy or not. If I didn't have almost all Live I would not even consider buying this. I am already sponsered for 2K11 so I am going to have some extra cash but everything just looks horrible to me. The faces (Which for some reason are always a huge deal to me) look so much worse then Live 10. Live 10 had all faces almost perfect. If you were in my situation what would you do?

I would get. For better ESPN integration.

you're completely right
Badger, he should also buy Sony's terrible NBA games just because it has TNT integration
Hotwater10, wait for the demo then decide if you should get it day 1, wait for Black Friday, wait for price drops, or just play Live 10 again.

Sir, I'm bored from TNT integration. People needs to try DEMO version.

Badger just somewhat owned you there Jao.

how? he said he should but Elite because of ESPN integration....I say that if he were to get it for the presentation to get the sony series for TNT and he owned me cause hes bored of the TNT presentation?

I know. Let it be Jao and let him be happy for now. I think the more he's happy the less he posts. It's a win win for all concerned.

the day he logs off and never comes back will truly be a great day...

They have actually improved over Live 10. Live 10 faces were incredibly over-saturated with color mostly due to the lighting.
I think it's important to atleast try it. Whether it be the demo, or playing it on display at a game store, or renting it. Once you feel the speed difference between the time you perform an action on the controller and the animation being played out on the screen, you might have some problems going to other games.
Now I agree with what many people have been saying about how it "looks." It's not as smooth or as pretty as Live 10 or 2K10 for that matter, and in some cases it actually looks like last-gen animations being chained together, but I think you can have so much fun actually playing a game in real time instead of watching pretty animations play out that you told the game to do a full second before. It's not like we play the game with binoculars on. How big are these players on the screen while we are playing? An inch, 2 inches? How much detail can you really see in that?
The big thing that will hurt the bad looking animations(besides the animations themselves) is the replays. Until the Elite 11 developers can really transition those animations and collisions from one to another smoothly, there will always be sequences that are going to look bad.

If I can have FUN with this game, I will definately buy it. I found Live 09 enjoyable and that was worse than this LOL. I will get 2k also, cause it looks like a complete game. My purchase is really based on this demo

This.

That way you can make an informed decision about whether it's the game for you, more so than just watching videos or reading impressions, without having to drop $60 or whatever to find out.

question for jao sming how did you become a administrator you don't sound like you've ever liked live/elite you seem completely biased to 2k on an nba live forum

needcollec, I Live for Live. Really, I do. I still play Live 09 regularly and the PC versions of Live as well (mainly 04 and 06). Nowadays, I guess I can say I Lived for Live. See last year I was on the hype train as normal, realizing 2k was going to be the better overall game again (as it has been since Live 07/2k7) but that never changed my "allegiance" towards EA's product.
For NBA Live 10 EA brought on Mike Wang and I heavily disagree with the gameplay direction NBA Live 10 brought to the table. First they got rid of my split dunk/shoot buttons, got rid of my complete control of dribbling moves by adding the size up trigger, added some left stick dribble moves, and then the mapped shoot to X rather than B on an Xbox controller. The later is my biggest issue because Every Single EA game before Live 10 used "B" to shoot. Going back to the SNES days. I feel that EA took the things I hated about 2k and mashed them in with Live 10. The reason I am so passionate about that stupid control change is because I continually play old EA games, so now having to learn 3 different control schemes (rather then 2, 2k and EA) threw me off when I played the demo.
With Elite 11, my issues remains with the controls issue, except now we have the shot stick which IMO is a bit better anyway, and through the videos I still see rebounding and other little quirks like the dunk/layup momentum shifts that have been issues since Live 08 and still haven't been fixed. On top of that when looking at the footage, I see nothing more technologically advanced than the collisions that are in NBA Live 2003 (no 2 player canimations in that game either). I am still keeping tabs on when the demo arrives and trying to remain as optimistic as possible for the game but you can't fault me for not liking what I see.
And on top of all of that, I'm a PC basketball gamer. No PC release makes me already dislike the game compared to 2k since I can't customize it to how I want it to look and play. And I don't need to love Live/Elite to be an admin here, hell, Jae has never played any Live game on his 360 and he's higher up than me!
Mon Sep 06, 2010 10:46 am
Yeah I used to love Live but I hated how the game changed, once I discovered NBA 2K5 I never went back. I still prefer FIFA over Pro Evo so I'm still an EA bitch in some sense.

It's inaccurate though, as Jon's honest and detailed reply demonstrates.

If any diehard LIVE fans are on the fence (as I was) click this
http://www.operationsports.com/forums/n ... -read.htmlIf you can't click it, copy and paste it in the address bar. Its a long read, but well worth it.

Fair call but I think anyone on the fence is better off making up their minds based on experience with the demo (or even renting the game) rather than a forum post. Good post though.
