First NBA Live to Elite Face comparison

Looking pretty good. Left is Jennings in 10 and Right is Jennings in Elite. Below is him IRL and below that is my Youtube video regarding it.

I thought Elite said they had to sacrifice the graphics for the gameplay? You call this sacrificing? This is much better graphics than in Live 10.

Good stuff. (Y) I'm not saying there isn't room for improvement but that looks far from awful/cartoonish/whatever else people like to say about Live/Elite's graphics. At the very worst, that surely has to be satisfactory.

Thanks for posting this, Hotwater10. I'll go ahead and post this thread on the main page.

Yeah. It does look a lot better than Live 10, to me the players dont look shiny in Elite when looking at the previews

They've changed the lighting so there isn't that oily effect. Definitely for the best.

I'm not getting live this year........one of the main reasons are the graphics , player models and the freaking FACES!

why have they stopped updating faces? A lot of players in live 2010 are generated , half asses lookalikes. I am not impressed if they can make a good ebron James face.............or brandon Jennings...........I rather have them make a good joel anthony face, sonny weems face or the bench guys who are young and whith which you are gonna play also and develope in your dynasty.

I wouldn't base my purchasing decision on that, but you have a good point and this needs to be brought up with the devs. I remember when dynamic dna first came out EA said that newly signed players would be put in the game with generic faces and then updated later. At the very least, they should be able to do that with rookies that they did not have the rights to when the roster was finalized. Once those players are officially on a teams roster, they should be able to update the players appearance.

a game like 2k7 or 2k8 has all the faces of the bench players while live 2010 failed even to do a guy like joel anthony.......that's not acceptable especially when the guy is actually doing something in the league.

thats why i liked the pc versions of live back in the day, cause you had face patches and people to clean up whet ea messed up. with consoles thats not even possible anymore.

Live 10's Jennings remind me of the Sims.

LOL 2k7 Didn't have all the bench players done properly, what are you talking about, They didn't even have all the players in that game, they also didn't have all the players names in that game either, it was still a good game, but I had to create players to fill rosters in 2k7

2K faces have always sucked. Look on Youtube and look at a comparison.

I edited the first post to add a real photo of jennings

IMO i like 10's graphics better, Elite looks kinda like it has NBA Live 2005's lighting on it.
Opinions are my own.

I think the lighting in Elite is OK. Live 10's was just too bright. I can't stand playing at Detroit in Live 10. I think the Jennings from Elite looks more human, mainly due to the fact that his skin color matches his real life counterpart.

So even if the gameplay is great, there's a deep Dynasty Mode and overall it's a fun game to play, you won't buy it because the faces of a few benchwarmers and players added by Dynamic DNA aren't quite right? Fair enough, to each their own, but to be honest I don't notice the facial detail that much when I'm playing, at least not to the extent where it's distracting or takes away from the experience. Except perhaps when they've just added a player to the rosters with Dynamic DNA and they haven't assigned the right generic/created face to him as yet.

I'm just puzzled by the harsh criticisms of Live/Elite's graphics and how they become a deal breaker for a lot of people. Room for improvement? Sure. Awful? Not really.

well.........who says they are gonna fix the dynasty up fully? they probably fix the mistakes instead of redoing it anyway....The gameplay isn;t that good either compared to 2k...... i only like the dribbling over 2k and 2k has changed the dribbling this year........... we don't know that. I have however seen the player models and they look the same........the movements as far as i can see are pretty much the same. Most guys playing live for years know that they just take motion capture from years past and put them in the newer games. that simply doesn't work anymore for me.

2k comes out with new moves and bodies and motion captures each year, while live just simply adds a couple of new moves and a handfull of new faces.

Just go to your nba live 10 and start a dynasty with the grizzlies.......like i did.....there were 2 guys with almost identical ratings on the same team. 3 young players who had no faces or were generic and looked nothing like themselves......how are you gonna play a dynasty if your younger guys on rosters aren't themselves and the game promises autenthicity........ I was just throwing it out there as a hypothetical. To me, a game that could look better but delivers on the gameplay and the game modes is more than playable. A game that doesn't deliver on gameplay or its chief game modes but looks fantastic on the other hand is not.

I personally prefer Live 10's gameplay over 2k10 (I've played the 2k10 demo). With 2K10, I find it hard to control my player, and I'm horrible on defense. In Live 10 however, defense is a sure thing, and I feel that I have greater control of my player. A few bench players looking the same isn't gonna stop me from getting a game that delivers in gameplay, rather than a game who is all looks.

you guys keep saying that the gameplay is better, but it really isn't that much better. live 2010 has just as many instances where you are stuck in an animation and the annoying thing is that they are pretty much the same animations over and over again.

they messed up the collision animations where you only have a handful, NOT EVEN , from the dotted line. Only when you get nearly under the rim the animations vary, but there they jus stand there and do nothing most of the time.

gameplay is percieved by animations to me for a great deal.......the game stays interesting when you see new things and that is not the case with live anymore.
