Looking at the footage, you think two years were enough? Some of the player movement reminded me on NBA Live '08...

They didn't have two years. This footage is from 6-7 months of development.

is this the complaining that the players run back too early during his shot?

cause if so, I rarely see the full team stick around for O-Boards in non-playoff games like they do in video games.

first made basket I found in a random full game on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qmFL6J3 ... ge#t=1828s
Opinions are my own.

They run back before the shot even goes up. LeBron takes off the instant Battier gets the ball.

Perception matters more than reality. All of Elite 11 was represented solely by Jesus Bynum.

"Commentary was a bit ordinary, without the back and forth conversation that NBA 2K12 represented quite well."

2K's back and forth conversation is mostly the personal stories that repeat multiple times in a game. They also repeat, during a season or association, where they make no sense. In 2016 of an association, for example, they'd still mention some player who a team "acquired last year" even though they acquired him in 2011.

The commentary in this video is all about the game as it plays. I prefer it.

Huh? I haven't reached Season 2 in 2K12 yet as I was constantly restarting my Association, but if memory serves me well, in 2K11, after Game 30 of Season 1 those stories went away, and didn't come back in Season 2 or 3, which made me want 2K to create dynamic stories based on what's happening in the Association; discuss trends, player & team performance in recent games, trades, etc.

Stories also stop after a certain game in 2K12 as well, I'm thinking either Game 30 or the All-Star Break.

Presentation was the only thing done right in the video. I wouldn't play it even if they gave me a free copy, maybe use it for a paper weight ,Frisbee or some shit. SMH that was beyond Bad.

That is a problem with NBA 2K12, but the interaction between the commentators sounds a bit more natural, more like they're actually talking to one another as they do in a real broadcast. The commentary here sounded a bit more like they were reading lines.

My problem with this commentary is that their voice sounds as if a story is being told to a bunch of small children. Just listen to the tone and you'll see there is no seriousness to it. NBA 2Ks commentary is more serious and natural. You feel like you are actually playing a real mature game of basketball.
But in this video it doesn't feel that way. There is a lack of emotion in the way they talk.

I just feel like the game as a whole is more targeted at an age group of 10-15 year olds. Not just based on the commentary, but based on the gameplay too. Ball feels very bouncy. The way they pass and shoot the ball. It feels like it is more arcade than a simulation.

If this is how the final game would be. This will get an average metacritics score of no more than 6.5 out of 10 I can almost guarantee you this!

So what if that's the case.
If it becomes a good game then it's a good game even if it's targeted to a different demographic.

Metacritic is retarded. I wish game companies won't use that as a bible.

That's not good enough then. Just cos it's good to suit 10-15 year olds, doesn't mean it's good to suit us grown ups.
I also liked for example NBA JAM the android mobile game. But that game is arcady and childish. Every time I play it on my android phone, I always ask myself if there was more simulation factor and skill involved how popular that game would've been.

We want a simulation of a game where we can measure the power and accuracy of the shot. If it just goes in with a tap of a button, where's the joy? I can only see that being pleasurable for young audiences. But grown up adults will not enjoy that kind of game. We want games to be won based on skill!

Just like normal toys, they may be good for kids, but us adults never play them, do we?

Metacrtic scores and reviews are important, I do agree that sometimes they may be biased/inaccurate. But they do give us a rough reflection of what the game is all about. Especially if the rating is very poor. Generally speaking games that are rated 6.5 and below should be avoided.

A high Metacritic of NBA Live 10 allowed for NBA Elite 11.

There were a couple of good things I noticed.
- Scott Brooks actually looks like Scott Brooks (Not some old guy with grey hair like in Live 10)
- The court looks nice and is actually Chesapeake Arena (instead of the generic Oklahoma City arena in Live 10)

Graphics looked a little weird to me though. Almost like they were from a previous version of the game instead of a new game. Maybe it was just the camera angles though. There wasn't too many close-up shots.

Yeah NBA Live 10 did get an 80 score. But gamespot gave it 7.5 and the average user score gave it 7.5 which is fair enough.
Plus at that time no body expected that NBA 2K10 would surpass people's expectations. For that period of time if you look at NBA Live they may be considered good games if you take out the 2K series.

But in recent years of NBA 2K10, 11 and 12 the same cannot be said.
If the same NBA Live 10 with the same graphics, gameplay, etc was released today it would not get 80 metacritic score. Because reviewers will compare it with the 2K series and automatically realize that a game such as NBA Live 10 isn't good enough.

And see, as a result NBA Elite 11 got canceled, because EA knew it couldn't compete with 2Ks basketball.
Now it would be a completely different story! NBA 2K is in the way to cause problems and NBA Live 13 at the current state would not get a higher score than a 6.5 or a 7.0 maximum!

Your spot on. I would be surprised if they got as high as a 6 if the gameplay issues are similar to what was seen in the leaked video. EA knows that and they will continue developing for the long haul.

It’s not going to happen overnight, but we’ll sit here 3, 4 years from now and hopefully we’ll be talking about what a great battle NBA 14 or 15 is versus their 14 or 15,"

It's still a videogame, I think that counts as a toy for kids or man kids. So if you're an adult why do you still play videogames like NBA Live then?

Still doesn't change the fact that most Metacritic scores are retarded.

I saw this on facebook a little while ago.

First off.Why the heck would they pick Jason Terry to be here in San Antonio for this?

My assumption for this would be that if they chose someone else more famous like LeBron, Kobe, etc over at San Antonio it will be much overcrowded.
Choosing Jason Terry means less publicity stunt, less crowd and less security problems. Am I right?

As for Medal of Honor Warfighter, FIFA Soccer 13 and Madden NFL 13, etc these games are far more popular and far more likely to attract public interest than NBA Live 13. Especially with NBA Live 13 with the leaked gameplay video. That to me spoiled EAs party. If they spend money on advertisements for NBA Live 13 and make a game conference for NBA Live 13, it will fail.

Most people here are well informed through forums, youtube, etc that NBA Live and EA's silence on NBA Live 13 on their forums, pretty much exemplifies it. Okay, let's just assume that, that gameplay video is indeed an Alpha Beta. How much do you expect it to be improved 3 months from now on, when they had 3 whole years to make something that they claimed that's going to be revolutionary?! :cheeky:

Not 3 years, but I understand what you mean by it. We all had high optimism/expectations with all the development time we thought was being put into the actual development.

However, from seeing the shape that Elite 11 was in around May 2010, if the video we saw was anywhere around June or July, the game should be in better shape by release time. Although, with EA's silence, I'm not optimistic.
