The lack of news has nothing to do with laziness. I'm sure the people actually working on the game would like to be giving us news and showing off stuff that's more impressive than what we've seen so far. However, they don't make the call on that stuff.

Starting the news cycle in September scares me.

I think EA Sports plan for NBA Live with this 3 year plan is to not change direction or be completely reactive. They should have a three year set plan that doesn't reset completely every three years. What I am talking about is the method of always knowing what you are building on and how it fits within the high-level plans for the future. This method will give them the ability to go from making good games to being an industry leader for the future.

EA, you are better than 2K? In NBA 2K13 will be: All-Star, Dream Team, Jay Z. In NBA Live 13 only featuring ESPN. Only if EA adds Olympic London 2012 can talk about any compensation.

EA is one of the "industrial leaders" in the video game market because of all of its other games and franchises, right now. (Almost) nobody's saying Live 13 is going to be a competitor to 2K13, but with the right amount of time (a few years) and no more changes to the development team, Live could be a valid competitor to NBA 2K.

A new development team should have never been given such a short timeframe (6-8 months) to work on some other team's code. EA made a bad business decision, and this will show in Live 13. Let's hope that they avoid any more drastic changes, and that the current dev team can work on making Live a good game once again as soon as possible.

i'm pretty sure that if they go through with the rumored a digital-only Live 13, they'll probably keep the silhouette as the cover to save $$$. no point in putting a real picture of Lebron on the cover if there's no discs to sell

Yeah, but Qballer has a point. 2K knew it would release 2K10 that year on a $60 price tag. EA could be unwilling to put the money required to get a star player on the cover, considering they're going for $20 on DD only.

I know that the game will be PS3 & 360 only. But even on consoles you've got something like a desktop, where you can find the game icons. You need also some kind of cover for the PS3/ 360 shop.
I think you're right concerning the FIFA icon, it was just FIFA 13 iirc.
Nevertheless would it be untypical to a NBA Live game not to feature a cover athlete, although I agree, that it's also untypical to release the game via dd only and for such a low price.

Well its official,
EA has lost a very dedicated costumer due to its silence, When I heard about Live coming back I was at the 90 % chance I would buy it, 9% chance I buy 2k13, and 1% both, While 2k13 was giving out info every blink of an eye, I just couldn't stand it any more, 2k was the right way to go,

While the silence killed themselves, I just gotta say,

I hope first off Kevin Durant, Lebron James or Derrick Rose is on the cover. Then I'm hoping they will say they have multiplayer dynasty and the ability to be able to save during the offseason. Those two things not in the game is what made me switch to 2K. The third feature that would be better than 2K would be a draft list in dynasty mode.

they should release Live 10 (update) with latest roster & new dunk/shoot/layup animations... better than this *peep*
i would rather pay fewer live pts for it... i'm still playin' Live 10, but it would be great to somehow EA update full rosters, team jerseys, courts etc... and ofc just rename to NBA Live 13
