I really am bummed by this I was hoping to play as the New York Knicks but i will have to wait until 2012. I hope that they will release a really great game for 2012 by having great gameplay, multiplayer dynasty, saving a game and coming back to it later and saving during the offseason. I still think Elite needs to do something that 2K hasn't done and i still like my idea called a draft list. Bascially from year one in the dynasty to the season your on you get to see what teams picked what player and even the trades that went down that night.

EA Canada isn't gone, they just won't be producing the NBA Elite series moving forward. As far as I'm aware, the updates will continue as planned; it's not like they need a whole development team to maintain those.

They said that the DNA will start after 2 weeks of the nba tip off, its been 3 weeks and still the DNA is the same

They actually said two to three weeks.

The blog wrote:There will be DNA Updates throughout the NBA Regular season. Expect the first update to arrive two to three weeks after the NBA regular season begins

That means they'll probably start soon, they might be running a little behind on that plan with the shakeup but there's been no word that they're not going ahead with the updates, especially since they went ahead and released an update that allows users without a Dynamic DNA subscription to get the updates. Chances are, they're just running behind schedule, though they did originally say 2-3 weeks.

To be fair, I think a lot of people would be saying the same thing if they hadn't pulled the plug and released a game that was by and large poorly received. Whichever way they went, it wasn't going to go down well.

And of course, that's going to be the challenge for NBA Elite 12/NBA Live 12/whatever they end up calling it. The fanbase has dwindled, in many cases moved on to 2K and the loyalty to the brand is greatly diminished because too many people feel burned by shortcomings of the product, the lack of a PC version and so on. Some people aren't going to be won back which is understandable. But I'd like to see two quality products on the market as competition is a good thing, so I'm still hoping that EA can rebound next year.

EA lost me in 2006 after 11 years of buying there product it went down hill and i started playing 2k , never looked back since 2008 but i have to admit that it makes me sad to see how things have become for the series since the days of playing it on my nintendo in 1995 :D

Just out of interest: As someone who has gone on to 2K after being burned by EA, if they came back strong next year and the demo was suitably impressive, would you be at all inclined to (or open to) buying a PC version?

Andrew , il be honest ive bought every nba live made and even tho nba elite had a bad taste i still would of bought it , i buy them on the release date or a few days after give it a go then take it back a few weeks later.

Nba live 10 in my eyes the closest thing to "hay day" for EA but after months my ps3 pad broke i needed to trade it in but i would of been happy keeping it so i thought they had turned the corner then Nba Elite came out and it was 2 steps back.

I always saw EA's troubles were that went they were making the transition to next gen while 2k did it in there stride ea really struggled and went away from all the things that built a loyal fan base.

I think it would be really tough to pull people back to buying Elite but i said it to my friend in 2004 when he brought around nbs 2k4 and said that no one would ever make a basketball sim like EA ... yeah i was wrong.

So is that a yes? ;) I'm interested to hear what it would take for former NBA Live fans to give the series a chance again, I think that kind of info would be useful to send along to EA in addition to the Wishlist and PC Petition.

Speaking of those initiatives, we still need your support everyone!

Its a yes Andrew.

Invested to much of my own time and money to just give up on the series.

Thanks, appreciate the answer. :) I'd be interested to know how many people around these parts share those sentiments, how many people would have left the door open even a crack.

Well i think that the amount of people the that post every day on a "Nba Live" forum but clearly play 2k now speaks volume as you would imagine that they would of left and posted over at the many 2k forums but imo we are all still here because we still want to be kept in the loop with first hand new on nba live/elite.

Ive said it before but when EA pulled the plug on the PC version it lost most of its fan base because there was so much more people could do to the game than the console version and i know i felt like id lost my power to edit.

Good point, though we have expanded our coverage in the last year to accommodate the needs of users who have gone over to 2K. Considering how many former Live players were still checking and commenting on the news though, I do think you're right about that. Losing the PC version definitely hurt, no question about that.

Still Andrew i have to take my hat off to you through the bad times and even up against a failing product you have stayed true and loyal to the brand which is something a lot of us old guys cant hold our heads too.

It's a combination of fond memories and a preference for some of the things NBA Live does compared to 2K, specifically Live's controls vs Isomotion. I'd also like both brands to be strong as competition and two viable choices has to be much better for us as consumers, so even as we expand our coverage and I'm playing more 2K than I used to, I don't want to completely move away from what made the site so popular and abandon initiatives I feel can benefit gamers in the long run.

I was a fan until I bought 2k10, and that was because my Live got lazer burn. Just wished the graphics looked better
