Minimal attention to real world details + exaggerated features and proportions = cartoony to me

The problem is, I've also seen people refer to some of 2K's bulkier player models and certain faces as cartoonish. Like I said, it's a pretty ill-defined term that's thrown around way too liberally. I just feel there are better adjectives that a lot of people ignore in favour of a buzzword that's deliciously snarky.

For example, your elaboration and definition of the term as you use it - minimal attention to real world details, as well as exaggerated features and proportions - is a lot better and would tell a developer a lot more about what you don't like, what they got wrong and what they need to improve. I think as gamers, that's how we should be critiquing the product and providing feedback.
