Re: Help with an .ebo

I'm not trying to be, but I would like to at list stimulate response rather than checking every couple hours hoping someone answered me.

Try at least a week. I know you guys do this for free and have lives of your own so no need to check "every couple hours" just for a response. Try waiting for a week, if no response you can check in and remind them again after a week.

It's been exactly one week since my last discussion with another member. I understand forum ettiquite but it's about that time to figure out if I will receive additional help here or if I should look else where. But sounds like pdub is going to assist me, so all is good.

My bad, the date I saw was 28, which if I was nazi about it wouldn't be a week but nvm.
You have to understand that you're dealing in messing with something old (ebo editing) as I understand so it will take some time for those bastards to figure it again. Also, 2K12 is out so they're probably busy robbing people so they can buy the game.

Haha I've definitely noticed. I'm kinda dealing with dead technology in the wrong forum lol. However, I live in Grand Forks, ND which is entirely a hockey town so I have very little interest in basketball, but hockey is starting up so I feel the forums excitement (just for a different sport).

I had to use a different base with more vertex data in it for the cage, so I used the nba championship trophy. They probably won't be needing it this season, anyways. I did what I could, even porting over the vertex faces so you can see what your doing easier. Also, I found that the reason the regular helmet shows up under the goalie helmet is because it is also in that ghelmet.ebo file. I wonder if we will find out soon why that guy never released it. Whenever your done editing, reupload and I'll import it back in.

I'm old, too. I almost posted that I couldn't find it in the file right before actually finding it. If I knew how to program, every ebo file would be editable. The format of the data is pretty simple. It's all just stacked on top of each other with size and offset start pointers in between. A good programmer could probably write a script to convert this stuff into blender.

Freaking awesome. When I get home I'll check it out and see if I can edit it. Yeah the guy who posted that photo hasn't been active for like 2/3 years.. They stopped making the NHL series in 09, so I assume that's why he quit.. I highly doubt a second coming..

Hey Pdub, what Hex editing program do you use?

Hex workshop.

Wanna just make a bookmark for me and up that, so I can edit it myself and import it? I have a feeling this won't be a first time perfection

Well, I gave it a shot. It probably doesn't look that good, but it's all trial and error from here.

Not yet. New games came out and have been taking up my time.

Re: Help with an .ebo

Okay, if you want to start hex editing it by yourself, I made it a bit easier by moving all the points to zero other than the ones from the cage. They will show up as 0000 0000 0000 0080 after the data that contains the cage vertices. That way you know not to select them. I uploaded this file as cage2. Both files that you need are in the attached zip.

For the editable cage2.ebo file, the offsets are 028c to 13d8. For the game helmet file, the offsets are d788 to e8d4.

So I copy the content from the cage2.ebo from 028c to 13d8 to the original ghelmet file at d788 to e8d4? Or is the d788 to e8d4 for the helmet.ebo you prepared for me? If it is, where do I insert these lengths into the original ghelmet?

Alright sweet. Yeah, I completely understand that you're busy. I have a pretty good understanding of the editing now that I've tinkered with it, so I thought I'd take a little of the burden off of you by doing it myself. Thanks a ton, if I have any more questions I will definitely post!

I already copied it in for you, but if you want to make more edits, once you are done editing the cage file, copy it into the helmet file.

I renamed the ghelmet.ebo you provided to visor.ebo and imported into my game and it produced the same results as before.

Re: Help with an .ebo

Its possible I uploaded the wrong helmet file. Copy the hex data in yourself and see if it is the same. You will probably have to hide all the other helmets and cages so they dint show up, too.

Re: Help with an .ebo

Tue Jan 24, 2012 4:34 pm

I apologize for such a late response, I have recently become swamped with a school, the holidays and a recent death in the family. I am still interested in getting this situation solved.

I copied the content from the cage2.ebo (028C to 13D8) file to the ghelmet.ebo (D788 to E8D4) file you provided and the pink mask still shows up through the helmet. Also the cage seems slightly different than the goalie's cage, but nothing like I did in my eboeditor.

So the questions I present:
1. To remove the pink helmet must I just shrink the contents of it in an ebo editor, or can I just simply remove it via hex edit? Either way, I think I will require assistance in locating it.

2. Does it look like I'm just bad at ebo editing, or is something not right?

3. What am I specifically looking for while hex editing to ensure I am finding the proper address and length of hex to transfer to edit?

Thank you so much for your patience, you guys are great!

I don't know why the cage isn't even showing up. That would be the first priority, getting it to show. It looks fine in the editor.
Sorry for your loss.

Yeah, I'm pretty stumped. I think this project may just require a breakdown (via hex) of the entire .ebo, which makes my third question most important because I wouldn't want to request for you to do so.

Re: Help with an .ebo

Isn't the cage in the screens the same one you edited?

Re: Help with an .ebo

Wed Jan 25, 2012 7:34 am

Yes it is. But it appears to be not working after inserted into the ghelmet file. This leads me to believe it is a different part of the ghelmet file that must be edited.

My issue still remains unsolved, Pdub. Let me know when you have some time so we can work this out.

I'm not sure if I can do anything for you at this point. I got a new computer a while back and don't have a working ebo editor. I would be willing to look at the file again in a hex editor to see if there is anything I can spot, but if that mask that keeps showing up in-game is the same model that you edited than it shouldn't look like that, which would mean that the game is not loading the file correctly.
