So long as there are some fixes for the sim games and the game modes aren't in desperate need of an overhaul, that might be a decent arrangement.

I have never really tried NBA Jam, so I am looking forward to trying it out. I am most of all still waiting for news on Dynasty Mode improvements in Elite.
After reading other people's replies, I have to get this off my chest, though: Why is it at all important to people who is on the cover of a computer game? How can that possibly be a selling point? I can see why 2K's classic modes and stuff makes the game interesting, but the cover-guy!! Come on...!!! They could put Brezec on the cover, and it would not affect my oppinion of the game one tiny bit.
Wow, off topic, but really...???

Back to the topic. Great announcement from EA. Shows they are serious about bringing the fans back. And this bundling does not move any resources away from developing Elite 11. So there is still hope for Dynasty Mode...

This is so ridiculous and smart..........they know sales have been going down compared to the competition and they need this gimmick to up their sales, cause they know the game will not be that good this year. From what i have read and seen in footage the game has nothing really new and their real physics seems to have messed witht he graphics of the game.
This is their last chance to up the sale for this year untill they figure out what gimmick they are gonna use next year.
Personally i might buy the game for NBA JAM and sell it on the net or just look on the net for the NBA JAM code if someone is selling that solely.
pathetic if this is what they need to do to help a game sell better.
i will be buying 2k11 the first day it comes out.
i have bought both games since 2007 and have been playing live since 95.
this may be nba elite/lives last year, unless they redo the whole thing from scratch. Hell i will do freaking motion capture for them with some of my friends for free. between us we can do all types of dunks and lay ups. But they still are using the same moves from last decade orso.

Elite - Kevin Durant, no disrespect to Durant, but really?
Not to make a big deal about this/derail the thread, but if YOU really think about it, Kevin Durant makes a lot more sense as the cover than Micheal Jordan. Micheal Jordan was last relevant in the league in the late 90's.
These games are supposed to represent today, and last season the biggest breakout star was Kevin Durant.
Jordan on the cover in 2010 is pretty much solely a marketing ploy.
Now if this were 1998 and 2k had Jordan on the cover and Live had Kobe (who back then wasn't anything big yet), you'd have a point.
any guy who plays nba games with created players feature in it will eithe make himself or michael jordan to play with and against the current guys.
There are enough guys who are makign classic rosters every year to play with. 2k finally fixed it by doing it officially and it's great!
as long as they fix some dribbling issues and canned anymations i am good to go!

We're talking about covers, not including jordan officially on the rosters.
Though I disagree with your premise that everyone makes jordan and/or themselves, since I don't

Well, there's also the new controls and physics, what appears to be a new single player career mode in the form of Become Legendary, and hints at other improvements to game modes. Considering 2K's dominance in the sales and their added marketing ploy of The Jordan Challenge, I don't blame EA for looking to counteract that with a bonus of their own. Doesn't mean they don't have confidence in the game itself.
I'm really surprised at the negative reactions to the announcement. As a whole, we're really coming off as an
Unpleasable Fanbase, which doesn't bode well for us being taken seriously.

Could be worse. Madden fans last year were complaining about being able to decline delay of game penalties and the clock restarting when the play clock started after a player had gone out of bounds, since the NFL rules differed from that. Which, in actuality, they didn't. At least all this whining is based in some sort of fact.

Anyone already going to buy Elite either doesn't care, is disappointed the announcement has nothing to do with that game or are happy. It's people who wanted NBA Jam who are the negative ones.
Thu Aug 05, 2010 5:22 pm
I get that people are disappointed that the announcement wasn't regarding an aspect of NBA Elite 11 itself, but it's almost like it's being treated that this was our last opportunity for good news about the game. This particular announcement wasn't what a lot of people were expecting or wanting; fair enough. Doesn't mean there won't be more announcements and those will contain good news, that's all.
Fri Aug 06, 2010 10:59 pm
I think the reason that most people are dissappointed with the announcement because of what the competition (2k) is doing. No, it is not a deal breaker that Elite is including NBA Jam. It is actually a good thing....for those who care and for those who don't. However, when you look at the announcements that 2K has made, even though they were market ploys as well, its just dissappointing to see how little EA has responded. For us diehard Live fans, we want Elite to be the number 1 basketball game. We want Elite to WOW us. We want Elite to deliver on its promises.
I understand that this is a rebuilding year, but wasn't last year as well. I mean, If they hadn't made such a big deal about NBA Jam....or if they included some gameplay footage of Elite, that would at least calm the crowd. But we haven't heard anything in weeks from EA, and then to say that the big news is NBA JAM? Meanwhile, every time you turn around there is something else about 2k. Why is it that we have nothing? This time last year and years prior, we would have at least seen a few clips....hell, I think we even had screenshots of the rosters. With less than 2 months before release, what do we have?
Brandon Jennings dribbling around by himself...using the wrong hand to shoot mind you. We got EA telling us about the controls and the new real time phyiscs...and a few small other clips.
Yes, there are plenty of people who loved NBA Jam. But you have to know that anyone who is a serious basketball gamer only plays Street, Jam, etc. just to having something different every once in a while. It is not their game of choice. Anyway, its done now. NBA Jam will be bundled with Elite 11. Hooray.

Announcing the announcement probably didn't help in that regard. I don't think people would have been as upset if they'd not had their hopes up anticipating something, only to find out it's not really anything to do with the game. Nothing wrong with the decision, the problem is with the execution. Sounds familiar.

Still plenty of time for details to be revealed...when PR decides to roll out the details. Consider that in previous years, 2K Sports tended to be more tight-lipped about their game. Also, that video with Jennings shooting with the wrong hand was a very early build. Subsequent videos/screenshots have featured him shooting lefty, as he should be.

I guess, but I have a feeling that no matter what they announced, there would be a group that would be unhappy with it because it wasn't what they were hoping to hear. I suppose that's just the nature of the beast.

That's sound good for me, but i think EA Sports can develop the full version of Jam to X360 and PS3
Sat Aug 14, 2010 10:00 am
Of course, hopefully they do that with any subsequent releases. It remains to be seen whether they'll do a full port or an XBLA/PSN version, right now neither has been confirmed.
Wed Aug 18, 2010 12:59 am
anyone notice they are showing more NBA JAM Clips than NBA Elite? lol
Wed Aug 18, 2010 3:13 am
considering NBA Jam is basically a finished product at this time because of the long development cycle and Elite is barely in beta if anything I'm not surprised.
If I were EA I wouldnt release a trailer or anything for Elite yet.....not based on those quick clips that show the potential rather than anything really 100% visually good.
Wed Aug 18, 2010 11:08 am
I'm guessing the longer NBA Elite 11 videos will be coming later this month or early September.
Fri Aug 27, 2010 7:13 am
I love NBA Jam and I would love to play as 2 on 2 and be the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics or Washington Wizards because of Wall and Areanas
Thu Sep 02, 2010 3:26 pm
i read that the wii version of Jam will have a "Remix Tour" mode that's sort of like a bunch of mini games. That will be replaced by an ONLINE mode on the Elite 360 & PS3 versions. Online mode + better graphics or Remix tour mode?
Thu Sep 02, 2010 3:48 pm
Good question. I don't own a Wii currently, but a friend does. I'll probably rent the game through gameplay and play it over there house.
Remix tour is the one with boss battles.
Thu Sep 02, 2010 5:31 pm
yeah if you watch the video, it shows a boss battle, a dunking game where you play as one of two teams and you dink til the backboard shatters (which i think is pretty cool) and a few shooting minigames kinda like the 2ball game the nba does with the wnba players
Thu Sep 02, 2010 6:12 pm
I don't have a Wii so I'll have to settle for the downloadable version. It'll be a shame to miss out on the Remix Tour as it sounds like there's a lot of replay value though but for pure nostalgia I think Classic Campaign will be fun too, not to mention the online capabilities.
Thu Sep 02, 2010 6:20 pm
Unless I missed something, it has not been confirmed the online mode will not be in the Wii version. EA already has their own infrastructure up to bypass the flawed Nintendo system so it may still have online.
Not that I put anything past these idiot companies regarding the Wii anymore.
Thu Sep 02, 2010 8:05 pm
I think the comment was that the Wii version doesn't support online "at this time", with the possibility not being ruled out.
Mon Sep 06, 2010 5:48 pm
did anybody notice Kobe, Durant, and Gasol's signature shots in the NBA Jam gameplay videos?
