you know, for some reason i never liked the single player career modes in NBA games. i think it has to do with the fact that the rosters are inaccurate once you put your created player on a team.

Dunking sliders might have to come down a little for sim players though.

Probably no such thing as this was a player vs player game. You choose to dunk by pressing toward the hoop with the left stick and pressing directly up on the right stick. Stop taking away my control and play some defense!

I still favour Dynasty Mode myself but I do think it's crucial that Elite has a single player mode (and indeed as many modes as possible, of at least satisfactory quality) because it's expected of sports games these days and it's important that they cater to everyone's tastes.

Fair enough, but that would be a shame if there's no frequency slider if you'd rather not have a dunkfest and have some of those dunks be layups. I'm guessing shooting percentages would even themselves out over the course of a game with longer quarter lengths though (and with tougher defense, as you noted).

What the heck is that?

Pro hop, nice.

Heck yes. (Y)

Sweet assist but what the heck is that collision with Rashard?

Latest vids keep getting better, i really like what i'm seeing hopefully it will feel much better. At 1.30 marks Howard on Wade was great 2 see for me. And also what i hear from the controllers of users sound pretty for an hardcore gamer .:)

Shadow has some great points even though he really didn't say anything.

For RTP to shine, they need to have more slight collisions to thwart those dunk attempts because right now we are seeing stuff that was happening years ago with players pushing other players in air with no consequence to the offensive player. I honestly would not mind if they threw in just a couple 2 man animations to stop people from abusing highflyers if they can't get the physics of that down at this point in development.

Sorry to say that, but the game looks terrible. I know that it's still work in progress and that the point of this game is to give player full control of movement and I really hope that I'll like after I play it . But thus far the movement of players is horrible, net animation makes me think it's made of wood , graphics is worse than Live 10's and there are way too many dunks. Since they are releasing NBA Jam this year what's the point of doing to NBA Elite the same what they did to Live 2003. If someone wants that many dunks in a game , go ahead and buy NBA Jam. Elite should be "realistic basketball simulation".

Keep in mind the last two videos were recorded off-screen, which affects the quality of the graphics (though admittedly not the animations). Looking at the screenshots, I wouldn't say the graphics look worse than NBA Live 10. Lighting is certainly better, there appears to be some improvement to faces and the crowd looks a bit better this year in my view.

I must also note something in the latest video that I didn't like, which was the first quarter going immediately into the second after the end of quarter cutscene and the stats screen. I'd rather the game pause between quarters so we can make substitutions and begin the next quarter with a different lineup if desired. A minor gripe in the grand scheme of things but I was hoping they'd change that back after taking the approach of going straight into the next quarter in NBA Live 10.

yeah me too. if they did away with all the gimmicky offline modes except for dynasty mode and focused on it, made it really deep, and fairly true to life, i would love EA forever.

yeah that was another problem with Live 10. The ability/high likelyhood of going all 20 mins with your 5 starters. imo 2k7 had the best substution menu of any game i've played. it should be easy like that where they encourage people to sub. and Live 10's fatigue was set to off smdh :shake:

Re: NBA Elite 11 Gameplay Video (Operation Sports)

Substitution logic wasn't too bad in NBA Live 10 but not having the pause menu between quarters was a bit of a pain.

I'd disagree with Dynamic Season being gimmicky, while I prefer Dynasty Mode I think that Dynamic Season has its place as an alternative and is a nice way of playing along with the real NBA season, re-writing it etc. I'm all for putting energy into Dynasty Mode of course but it's not for everyone and if there's diversity in the game modes and they're all solid then it's a well-rounded product.

I think the key this year is establishing the gameplay and the physics with enough attention paid to game modes that there is a noticeable improvement across the board and the game is fun and enjoyable. Then you can keep developing the animations along with the new physics, keep expanding the game modes, tweak as necessary, etc. If there's a three year plan in place, hopefully Year 1 is a significant and pleasing step in the right direction and they stay the course, refining what they've got in Years 2 and 3.

I agree. They need to improve their RTP. It's really something I want in the game.

I disagree that the game should pause in-between quarters. I would rather have the current scheme, but with a small overlay in the bottom of the screen during the end of quarter relays. The replays could loop with random camera angles until you pressed a button confirming that you were done with the coaching options.

they should put it like the time outs, have a LIVE pause so u can edit your line ups and matchups. Maybe next year

Technically speaking, isn't that still pausing the game between quarters? ;)

I get what you're saying though, for the sake of presentation and not interrupting the flow that wouldn't be a bad idea while still allowing us to change lineups and strategy in between quarters.

yeah i agree totally. i think that's what they started to do with 10. 07-09 weren't really that fun but i fully enjoyed live 10 as a basketball game.

i think the end of quarter scheme is fine the way they have it but the problem is it's impossible to substitute. when you hit X to select someone on the menu to sub out/in, X also doubles as the replay/menu skip button so it skips you to the next quarter before you can finish. so then i have to scramble and redo it AND get the ball across halfcourt in 8 seconds. so i wind up calling a timeout instead.

Re: NBA Elite 11 Gameplay Video (Operation Sports)

Tue Sep 07, 2010 3:28 pm

That's my only problem with it, the inability to make those changes between quarters. If I need to pause the game, I'll just hit pause but as far as subs are concerned you have to wait until the first dead ball after the next quarter begins.

Re: NBA Elite 11 Gameplay Video (Operation Sports)

I pause after every quarter, make my substitutions, and then let the game go on.

WTF Arroyo is starting PG

Re: NBA Elite 11 Gameplay Video (Operation Sports)

Wed Sep 08, 2010 7:09 am

Yes. He's been projected as the starter.

C: the greatness that is Joel Anthony
PF: Bosh
SF: LeBron
SG: Wade
PG: Arroyo

Miller
Haslem
Ilgauskas
Chalmers
House
Howard
James Jones

Why is Z the starter? If I ever use the Heat in either 2k or Elite, Joel Anthony is a MUST START.

Hes still better than Arroyo. And im sure that Big Z will not be a starter either. It will probably be Joel Anthony to start at C. Then again its EA theyre lineups have always been weird. The same people that had Rasheed Wallace to start over Kendrick Perkins in Nba Live 10.

Re: NBA Elite 11 Gameplay Video (Operation Sports)

Thu Sep 09, 2010 11:06 am

EA's lineups are based on Ratings, u should be able to switch up the minutes manually for your own team or all the teams in general

Re: NBA Elite 11 Gameplay Video (Operation Sports)

Thu Sep 09, 2010 1:31 pm

No to mention the Dynamic DNA updates will correct the lineups as necessary.

Re: NBA Elite 11 Gameplay Video (Operation Sports)

Fri Sep 10, 2010 7:43 am

Yeah, but when you play the game on Automatic Subs, they always sub out the starter if someone on the bench has a higher rating. In the case of Boston, when they subbed out Perkins for Wallace after the 1st dead ball!!! It's always better to play Manual subs, but it's stupid when you see the computer making stupid substitutions at the start of the game LOL
