They'll probably still make PS3 & 360 versions of the game

In Fiscal 14, we will release 11 major titles across consoles and on the PC. This includes our core sports titles – Madden, FIFA, FIFA Manager, NBA LIVE, NHL, and NCAA Football , as well as Need for Speed, Battlefield, Command and Conquer , and from our partners at Insomniac, FUSE.
Regarding next generation consoles, we are under a non - disclosure agreement with our platform partners, however, we’re planning a full reveal at E3 including more next generation titles in development for FY14. This will include breakthroughs in graphics and gameplay for some of our biggest franchises including Battlefield, FIFA, Madden, NBA LIVE, and Need for Speed. We plan to unveil new titles from EA SPORTS, Bioware, and ICE and a first look at some brand new games.

I feel EA is better off sticking with PS4/whatever and not releasing something for PS360.

I'll let the earnings report itself kill that rumor.

JaoSming wrote:Yes but 2K7 was ported over from 2K7 360 which had a 2K6 360 version to build from. And of course, a long running PS2 line of games.
EA has nothing for this generation right now. Nothing to do a 2K7 PS2 update with, aka a roster update, art update, and some audio. Due to the leaked specs of the next gen consoles, and the PS4 conference details, we know that the internal architecture of the consoles are very different. If EA releases for PS360 and next gen, I feel like they will be developing 2 basketball games, based on the assumption you can't easily program for both (damn you Watchdogs and Ass4 for ruining that hypothesis).
But disregarding that argument, think of it this way. They obviously have some kind of new engine they were hinting at with the graphics and the physics and the heebie jeebies. Why tarnish a next gen reveal and debut with a subpar current gen game?

benji wrote:One concern I'd have about next gen Live is how long they had it under development before Live 13 got canned. And how far back Live 13 truly got canned and things shifted over. (Is this why they appeared to dust off parts of Live 10 and try to rework that? Did Live 13 never get itself together because they put a good chunk of the team on next gen and then tried to cobble together something real quick with a smaller team for this gen?)

Hopefully they can salvage the franchise in next gen.
