Absolutely, but displaying something like the overall rating is one way of allowing the user to research a player's value and abilities (and I use the word "research" generously as it obviously doesn't take a lot of time or effort to look at an overall rating). I think it's fair to represent that in the game some way; overall ratings are the most straightforward method, though obviously not without their drawbacks.

I know i'm late on this, but what a silly set of ratings. I know it doesn't really mean anything until we compare it to the other ratings, but just compared to each other the ratings are way off. It looks like they base their overall rating on "potential" or something. How can Perry Jones and Jared Sullinger both have the same overall rating? Sullinger is way better than Jones at this stage. Also, if MKG is a 78, how is Davis only an 80? The gap between Davis and every other prospect this year is huge.
The only thing that's accurate is Miles Plumlee being way shitter than everybody in the 1st round.

It's not completely unreasonable, given the guesswork that has to go into rookie ratings before they've played a single minute in the NBA. As far as Davis goes, they're probably wary of overrating him too much out of the gate. I'd also say that once again there'll be some issues with the way the overalls are calculated, with athletic ratings boosting or dragging down the overall a bit too much. Fortunately, the post-release rosters, both official and unofficial, should sort this out.

So instead of overrating Davis specifically, they just overrate the rest of the entire draft class?
Davis should be head and shoulders above the other prospects, whether they under or over rate him..Fortunately, the post-release rosters, both official and unofficial, should sort this out.
Of course. And that's what we love about NLSC. But still, it doesn't fill me with confidence about the Live13 and its' rating team.

Or in an effort not to overrate Davis, they've in turn underrated him.
