Well, that was certainly negative and pretty snarky to boot, though everyone's entitled to their opinion and it does seem like the build on display didn't wow people so if that's their honest opinion, so be it. Hopefully the previews that will follow, the demo and the finished product will be a different story.

thats what we hope, but i just think this game is going to be really similar to elite 11 more than live 10

If it took EA almost two years, TWO YEARS, just to show a build that looks like it's barely finished with 5 months left to go then the negative and snarky comments are warranted.

It didn't. Production started last year, prior to that they were assembling the team and doing market research of the fanbase. As benji noted:
benji wrote:All games at E3 are farther along than are shown. You can't just take what you have and throw up as a demo, nor just cut out a part because the whole thing might collapse, you have to specifically construct them. Most teams loathe producing demos for E3 and if they can do the least possible. It's easier if you have a level based game because often you can just make sure that lone level works right.
So I guess we'll see. Fair enough that they called it like they saw it, though.

Wow. So EA basically wasted the time they had available for the new Live to catch up.

Maybe, maybe not. Guess we'll find out in due course.

I play Ultimate Team on FIFA and it's great but I really have no idea how they could make it work on NBA Live. Ultimate Team has thousands of players from all different countries/leagues, obviously NBA Live would just have guys from the NBA which would get pretty boring. For example, I've got 15 different ultimate team squads on FIFA and over 150 players in my club. That would be like 1/4 the entire NBA lol.

For what it's worth, word from EA is that the E3 build will not represent the final product. Guess that's something that everyone can either take or leave, future previews will show us more.

If they've still got the FIBA license, that might help, as would getting a few legends back in the game.

I think that UT thing with Live is not a bad idea,if they work it out good.It would be awesome if legends were there to pick up.

UT in Madden is the same idea, but they allow you a certain amount of player cards (twice as many players as you would need at minimum) and you can decide to start/sit players by putting them on the active roster. If they play in the game, then their contract goes down one. if they don't, then it stays the same. Even though there's 1700 players in the NFL, the cards seem to be limited to recognizable players. even the starter packs with the worst players seem to have the same bad players in each pack

UT in NBA Live might be the only reason why i buy this game lol

Even in the mini clip they showed you could see the "robotic movement" people have mentioned. Kinda a huge let down if the game ends up that bad...
Thu Jun 07, 2012 7:50 pm
I didn't think what we saw in that brief clip was too bad, some of the movement was a bit stiff but the way it's been described I'd have expected worse. Mind you, they are very quick glimpses. Like I said though, the word from EA after I made my inquiries is that the E3 build will not represent the final product, so we'll see what future previews have to show. The thought occurs that if the build on display isn't measuring up to what the Advisory Council saw at their event, it doesn't have the same polish as more recent builds. It seems unlikely they'd take out good animations based on favourable feedback.

Which is of course a meaningless statement.

One thing worth worrying about in regards to ultimate team, and Qballer would know if this is the case with Madden, but in FIFA Ultimate Team the gameplay is way different to regular game modes. It's more arcade-like. It's faster, the players are more skilful, you score more spectacular goals easier etc. If they did this in NBA Live it could be fairly unplayable just based on how shit arcade mode has been in past NBA games.

I play FIFA a lot, but I never play ultimate team but in Madden it's pretty much the same as a regular online game with regular teams so I think it would work well if they did something similar to the Madden UT mode

That would be so cool.

Did they actually confirm Ultimate Team to be in the game? I would be all for that and that could be a deciding factor in me buying the game.

I think there's only been one mention of it so far.
