I actually found myself missing left or right a fair bit with the down/up method. If they're going to use the right stick, Elite's method or something like 2K's hold and release at the right time would be preferable in my opinion...though if the game allows you to practice free throws outside of gameplay, I'm sure I can get used to any right stick method a lot quicker.
I still do like the T-Meter for its precision though, for misses as well as makes. It's handy to be able to precisely aim a free throw to miss short and to the left to try for an offensive rebound and no method they've used since the T-Meter has really allowed me to do that with any kind of precision.

i hate this, as it makes a player a good free throw shooter if their animation is easy to time/figure out.

And there's Bill Cartwright in the Jordan Challenge.

That method is alright, I'd probably place it third behind the T-Meter and Elite's right stick method.

I would like to have the Hot Spots from Live 08 but in another way. I didn't like the idea of watching it during the game with a button, I think it would be nice to have an option to see every players Hot Spots at a Team Management section on the menu. Another idea about that was the ability of seeing other players that aren't on your team or prospect players for the incoming draft in Franchise mode.

We were able to do that in NBA Live 08, there was just the option of bringing up the display on the fly if you wanted to as well. The on-court diagram was a little less obtrusive in NBA Live 09.

NBA LIVE 2005[Ability to know hos the draft class was (weak, normal or strong)]

Pretty sure that's been in more recent games (I know it's definitely in 06 PC), but in any case it's a bit of info that Dynasty Mode certainly should have in future games.

I've finalised the list, but feel free to keep posting as the devs are keeping tabs on this section.

Some of these were probably from previous games, but these are the NBA Lives I've played:
NBA Live 98-Halftime videos of teams.
-Player Cards
-Cheerleaders on the quit screen
NBA Live 06-Injuries; I noticed at least in the console version of 08 and particularly in 10 that players never seem to get injured. Injuries add an interesting dynamic to the game.
-Retiring players jerseys.
-Player and Team records being logged.
NBA Live 08-Player hot spots. In a sense it's kind of a cheat, but it was nice to know where the player can hit shots from to avoid taking ill-advised shots with them.
-NBA Live actually being on PC.
NBA Live 10-Controlling players off the ball. The system NBA Live 10 has is really effective.
-I found the freestyle passing quite intuative in this game.
-Dynamic DNA
-Dynamic Season
-I also liked how Live 10 eliminated the ability to change teams mid dynasty. Other teams trying to poach you is realistic I suppose, but it was always too distracting and I hated it when I would change teams and regret doing so.

I'm in favour of giving the user the choice when it comes to switching teams between seasons, as in NBA Live 2001-2003. The offer to change teams was a nice idea too, perhaps the best solution would be to include both options but allow them to be toggled off, so you never have the opportunity or offer to change teams if you want to ensure you're locked to a team for the duration of a Dynasty.

I also liked the idea of recieving offers from other team which included dynasty points to spend, it was like a reward for my work in my opinion.

I wasn't a big fan of Dynasty points myself, to me that was too much of a "video game" element. I liked the way the staff was implemented in Live 06-08 PC, minus the PDA aspect. The PDA was alright but didn't work out so well for trades and free agent signings, which should be hammered out and negotiated in real time rather than waiting a couple of days to hear back.

couldn't agree with you more (especially on the cheerleaders

i used to hit the Red X cancel button a few times before actually quitting lol. i thought the TBug, LJ, and Richmond front end backgrounds were cool too.
I forget if this was mentioned, but Live Run from NBA Live 10 needs to be brought back after being eliminated from Elite 11. It was really fun but it was really hard to get games going because the 2 random active guys in your 50 man "squad" were never on at the same time as you. Fifa has a similar mode and I think it would be successful if it were done a little better.

Agreed, though I did like the original OTP concept with NBA teams. If possible, both should be available for online play; choose an NBA squad or put together a Live Run-type pickup game.

I used to do exactly the same thing. I thought it was actually a pretty clever idea from EA, because it made you reluctant to quit the game

The backgrounds were cool as well (plus I'm a fan of Christian Laettner/Duke as well).

I was thinking about the "reward" that you could get for accepting the offer because there wasn't money involved (I don't remember well). Maybe instead of dynasty points it could be money to spend on staff or something else.

you ever notice the backgrounds when you check for all of the injuries in the league in GM (Dynasty) mode? the guys in the background are bandaged up haha

Sim geek that I am, I'm still not big on that idea. I guess if there's points/in-game currency that goes towards unlockables, it could be another way of gaining it.

One version of Live had player body development (was it Live '06?) so a player could bulk up body from 195lbs to 205lbs. They should bring that back, so generic rookies can develop from 6'10", 215lb SF's to 6'10", 240lb PF's.
Also if what badreligionau seemed to indicate is true, would be nice to see changing hairstyles return from Live '10.

Definitely in 06, but I believe it was present in last gen 2005-09. In any case, I completely agree.
Wed Nov 09, 2011 9:50 am
i do remember that in 2005 and 06, and it was nice to see your faceless draft picks progress and grow, so you do kind of connect with them when all the "real" NBA players are gone
Wed Nov 09, 2011 10:36 am
I remember when my pg's would get fat.
