NBA Live 13 Cover Leaked? (Operation Sports)

Citing an anonymous source, Operation Sports apparently have an image of the NBA Live 13 cover, which if accurate reveals the cover player to be LeBron James.



Thoughts? Obviously a great choice of player if true and a coup for EA. Certainly a bit more of an artistic cover than usual, too.

I'm going 100% fake. If they are going with someone as prominent as LeBron, they are going to make him recognizable on the cover.

Sad. It means EA knows Live 13 is going to be bad so they have to compensate with the cover player for more sales.

Not necessarily. That's not to say the game can't be bad or won't flop, but the approach has always been to get a big name to try and move copies. That's just smart business.

Ouf of the more 'market friendly' players during the 07-08 season that can be acquired as cover player with EA money, no.

He may not have been the biggest name, but it's not like he was a nobody, either. He wasn't too far removed from a championship and Finals MVP honours. I do remember being somewhat surprised by the choice at the time, though.

Still, the approach has generally been to get someone recognisable, an established star or a well-known up-and-comer. I doubt any cover player has been chosen with the thought being "The game's going to suck, we better get someone good on the cover", just simply "We want to sell a lot of copies, let's get someone good on the cover".

While I really want to think that way, Live 07 PC has destroyed that part of my brain for optimism.

I'd buy it though if they release it on PC and have a good dunk and three-point shootout contest or even some sort of streetball mode. Seriously.

There is no way this is official or should even be considered as official. Whoever sent it to OS is an excellent troll.

OS put the logo on it iirc to put their mark on it that they received it first

It may be fake, but the presence of the Operation Sports watermark isn't an indication of that. As Jon said, that's to show they had it first, so whichever sites reproduce it will have to acknowledge OS.

I actually like this particular style. But yeah, it's a little unrecognizable. It may be fake or not, but the real issue would be if the game would be released or not.

I agree with the fact, that if they would put LeBron on cover, they would not make him like that. It took me a while to recognize who is on cover, before I looked on the jersey. But to be honest, I kinda like this style. Make him more observable and it could be nice cover. But as far as fake or not, I`m going with 90% fake.
