Port Forwarding? Problem Solved!

Sat Oct 10, 2009 6:48 pm

I tried playing online with my Nba2k10 PC version (bought it at gamersgate) and it says i need to enable port forwarding in online settings. I hope you can help me find "online settings" on nba2k10 menu for me to enable it. or is it on desktop control panel?

I've got the same problem, have a shit load of port numbers open through my router too it must be a different one of some sort. I'm running windows 7 but it's the first game I've had on it that I haven't been able to play online with this problem.

thanks for the info. pardon my lazyness too. does it mean when i chose "keep unblocking" to my anti-virus pop-up menu it is not port forwarded? port forwarding is the same as opening a port for nba2k10 in windows firewall?

I thought online was restricted untill a certain date (I had October 12th booked in my mind). If there actual ports that need to be opened to play this online it would be a godsend!

You could tell me this Did it work?

Also I don't have this game yet, but could one of you check config.cfg file and there should be something like this:
ONLINE_FORWARDED_PORT
Maybe in the same line it shows correct port?

should be in apps. if you got XP go to start>run and type %appdata% then go to 2k>2k10>saves and config.cfg should be there. it has all your settings and junk in there

This is set by default in config.cfg:
ONLINE_FORWARDED_PORT = 0

What to set it too?

is it the same as the port used by the anti-virus software to "keep unblocking it?" how did you open the config.cfg file? what program did you use?

The anti-virus just finds out if an application uses the internet, you should look somewhere in the options and find a way to let NBA 2k10 use the internet (put it under trusted programs or something like that), so it won't ask you again. Config.cfg can be opened by any text editor, f.ex. you can use notepad.

thanks for the reply. how about going to control panel > windows firewall > add program > then select nba2k10?

your right. last night i was able to finally port forward nba2k10 to my router. first thing i do is typing %appdata% at search then open config file via notepad and replaced "0" to 1000 on the ONLINE_FORWARDED_PORT. Then go to my anti-virus program also to allow nba2k10.exe and Windows Firewall to check if it is included on the allowed program to go thru. Then i have this PFConfig program wherein you can port forward easily any games you want. just input the details (username & password of my router, and my ip address). Then i add nba2k10 on the custom games to be port forwarded and hit "update router button" after assigning port 1000-1005 for the game.

I almost forget, you need to open command prompt also and type "ipconfig /all" then take notes on all the IPv4 datas because you will need to set your connection to STATIC. Hope it helps.

i tried it but it doesn't work for me that's why i will stick to 1000-1005. i am really confused why do we need to make it... this is the first time i installed a pc game which require me to manually do the port forwarding. on my other games that have online gaming feature all i have to do is to select KEEP UNBLOCKING/UNBLOCK on any pop-up menu that will appear during and after my installation. This is a very bad idea 2k... not everybody knows how to do port forwarding. why not make as simple as it is like those other games?

2k is really new with this pc game thing :D the game's folder is a mess and etc :D
why did you choose 1000-1005? in config there's only one nr not a range....?
