"Exchanging Data, please wait(!)" - Question

OK, so I have the patch all setup and good (love the fixes, so I know the patch is correctly installed and pimp) but whenever I try to play online (even just happened with a guy that had 4/5 bars and I have full) it ends up like this EVERY SINGLE TIME:::::
"Exchanging Data, please wait(!)"
Then after 10-20 seconds it just decides to even stop "exchanging data" and then BAM:
"This game could not be started. Refer to the online FAQ or 2k Sports website for more information on this topic"
WHAT DO I DO? haha, I have full bars... benchmarked it at 85fps and it says "high".... could running it at 1900 x 1200 matter? Or are the 2k servers down or what? ahhhh! Port forwarding?
