heres how to put rookies in draft after franchise is started

Resources for NBA Live 2003.

I did what jwin did and for my current players, there are 1073 IDs. After a couple seasons in my franchise, the IDs have went up to about 1140. But when I created my player in the current roster, the new player's ID was 1074. And in my saves, there is already an ID with 1074. Do you know what Im talking about... Would be ok if I just inserted my new rookie into the draft with that ID or what?

It's a good idea when adding a rookie to the draft to give him an ID out of range of the last created player eg if the last created player has an ID of 1073, change your new rookie's ID to 2000. It's the only time that changing a player's ID is advisable.

does anyone have a sure-fire way for making rookies appear in the draft?
it used to be easy for live2000.
i have a mix of patched and non-patched rookies. have tried variations of true/false for iscreated and isgenerate and still doesn't work.
i know that the yearexp= -1 and that team =39 (isn't 30 for allstar east?).
i've followed the instructions in this thread and haven't had any results
-any and all help will be appreciated. and if there is any info already written somewhere in cyberspace please let me know.

...well i guess that its impossible. tried probably every variation, read every relevant post and found that no one can do it. :(

does EA have to ruin everything for us (no more plrs inserted into drafts, can't reenter players into season without losing their audio names, can't have fictional/created players with audio names ...i could go but then i would have to post under a different topic)

anyway if anyone has found the holygrail of inserting rookies in to the draft pool, i'd sure like to know

the method in the very first post works. i've added lots of players to the draft with no problem. but you can only add them to a franchise that has already been started, you can't add them to a roster file and then start a franchise and have them appear after the first season is over. and team 39 will not work once you have already started a franchise because there are no set all star teams in a franchise, they are cpu generated. 30 is the rookie pool for franchise files. if you follow the method in the first post your rookies should appear in your draft. :D

thanks for the help jwin :) i guess i was a bit stubborn with team=39 (though i was using toolkit and that has 39 as the rookie default).

draft pool 2003 is a bit different from previous lives...

now if only it wouldn't generate so many useless rookies. it should use the rookies that are inserted and then add however many that are needed to make up the numbers (58 or so, +few a extra for ones that don't get drafted).

...hopefully 2004 will be more advanced in the whole draft/rookies/picks thing.

whew, been a while since i edited any drafts so bear with me. first check your players dbf file to see if you somehow have two telfairs listed. also if you have dbviewer open the players dbf file and click the first player id column, then right click on it and choose sort on this column. check to see if there are any duplicate player id numbers. i had this cause the same problem once. let me know what you find in the files and i'll try to help you get it fixed.

With NBA Live 2001, you can actually place players in the database ready to be drafted before you start a Franchise game.

It's the exact same procedure, only with NBA Live 2001 you can use a saved roster instead of a saved Franchise game.

Since I heard this is the same procedure for Live 2004, I tried it on that game. I tried this and got my player successfully in the draft pool. But when I clicked on him in the draft, the Eastern Conference logo came in the box w/o his face. When I selected him, I was forced to skip the David Stern intro due to it not showing. After the draft, his box was simply empty.

And it got even worse during the game!

The ratings, etc. was good. But not that. Anyone know why?

Andrew do you know how I can possibly fix it? I used DB Commander Pro. I would love to know what causes this.
