Tutorial: Create HD intros/movies

Postby iceman99 on Mon Mar 18, 2024 2:17 pm

Hello everyone, here is a short instructional guide with some tips to create high definition intros. (the videos that play when you first run the game)

First, check out the Widescreen Patch and UI resolution mod here : https://forums.nba-live.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=13588

Next, I would recommend searching up VP6 conversion tutorials and learning that process
since most of the process to make HD intros is mostly the same.

1.) You will still need a video converter (i.e. AnyVideoConverter), VirtualDub, and the EA VP6 encoder programs installed.

( see this link https://forums.nba-live.com/downloads.php?view=detail&df_id=3009 )

2.) Find your video of choice to replace either the EA intro (eabrand.vp6) or the full intro (intro.vp6)

3.) Use your video converter program to convert the video to an .AVI

4.) Drag your .AVI into VirtualDub. Click the 'Audio' tab and click "Full Processing Mode"

5.) Also in the 'Audio' Tab, click conversion and set sampling rate to 48000Hz, 'Precision' to 16-Bit, and 'Channels' to Stereo

6.) In the 'Video' Tab, make sure it is also in Full Processing Mode. Then click "Filters > Add > Resize"

-----How to Get High Definition------

IF YOU WANT FHD (1080p)
7.) In the resize window, Set the Width to 1920 and the Height to 1088, NOT 1080.
(setting it to 1080 will cause aberration in the final video due to the program only accepting widths divisible by 32 and heights divisible by 16)

( IF YOU WANT ANY OTHER RESOLUTION (i.e. 1280x720) etc...
Set the Width and Height to the CLOSEST values to your desired resolution.
For example, for 1280x720, no adjustments need to be made since 1280 is already divisible by 32 and 720 is divisible by 16. )

8.) Once you figure out the resolution you want, in the same resize window, set the filter mode to 'Bicubic' , and make sure 'Interlacing' is NOT checked. Then click 'OK'.

9.) Next, go to 'Compression' in the video tab. Click the 'VP60 Simple Profile'. (make sure you have this codec installed from the link above)
Then click the configure button.

10.) Follow these settings:
Bitrate - 60,000
Mode - Realtime/Live Encoding
End usage - Local File Playback (VBR)
Material - Progressive
Noise Reduction - 6 (extreme)

10.) Click OK in those windows, then go to 'File > Save as AVI'

11.) Convert that .AVI into a VP6 using the EA VP6 encoder program.

12.) Make sure you name the final VP6 file the same as the one you are replacing (intro.vp6, eabrand.vp6 etc...)

Thanks a lot mrjea99,

until we find a solution to adjust movie scale regardless of size, it should be 1920x1088. for 07 and 08 there is no concern - it is possible to create any size of videos as long as width and height are properly set, but 2005 and 06... they made it a little hard coded
