Tuto : Adding Tattoos

Postby ScottyInsane on Sun Oct 09, 2005 12:27 am

Yep, here we go !

GRAPHIC EDITING :

1
extract armXY.fsh and legXY.fsh (where "X" is the skin color and "Y" is the muscle definition) and also armXY_r.fsh and legXY_r.fsh from "/NBA Live 06/sgsm/common/xplrtex.viv" using EA Graphic editor (in this VIV File you will also find the files to edit or create your own goggles and headbands : goggles.fsh and headbands.fsh but headbands make FSHX crash :/, the prog should have to be fixed).

2
Export the BHED from armXY. fsh or legXY.fsh using FshX.
FSHX pic#1 (ignore the tattoos on this pic)

3
Modify your files with paintshop, photshop or any gfx program, and save it in ".BMP" format to get something like that :
GFX pic#1
(to help you with "how to place the tats on the original pics", look at the final result at the end of the thread in order to compare placement ;) )

4
Open once again the armXY.fsh or legXY.fsh with FshX and Import the ".BMP" into the file. Save the file and exit.
FSHX pic#2

5
Rename the armXY.fsh or legXY.fsh with a number that does not already exists for example "arm17.fsh" (this is the number i used for my first patch) and rename also the FSH file that you did not modify with the sme number : "leg17.fsh" in my example (if you added tats to arms, rename the unchanged legs). When all that is done, place the files i the "sgsm" folder ^^

DBF EDITING :

*MAKE BACKUP OF YOUR SAVE BEFORE EDITING*
1
Launch a DBF Editor (I use CDBF, but it is limited to 30 days and only 10 minutes each time you launch it but it is long enough).

2
Open "players.dbf" located in your save game directory (I.E. : C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My documents\NBA LIVE 06\saves\Rosters)
Find your player, put "F" in the column "DELETED" and write down his "PLAYERID" (in my example it's "2017")
DBF pic#1
Verify that you fixed everything :
DBF pic#2

Close the file it will save it automatically as there's no "SAVE" option.

3
Open "appearance.dbf" located in your save game directory (I.E. : C:\Documents and Settings\USER\My documents\NBA LIVE 06\saves\Rosters)
find your "PLAYERID".
- in the column "DELETED" : Put "F"
- in the column "FACEID" : Put "-1"
- in the column "COLOR" : Put the number that you set as X in armXY.fsh (in my example it's "1" cause i renamed it "arm17.fsh")
- in the column "MUSCLETEXT" : Put the number that you set as Y in armXY.fsh (in my example it's "7" cause i renamed it "arm17.fsh")
DBF pic#3

Close the file it will save it automatically as there's no "SAVE" option.

*YOU MUST HAVE BOTH "armXY.fsh" , "legXY.fsh" , "armXY_r.fsh" and "legXY_r.fsh" IN YOUR SGSM FOLDER FOR THE PATCH TO WORK 100% PERFECTLY*

Launch your game and enjoy ^^

Here is my final result :

I may update them cause the pic of my right arm tattoos was not perfect so i will make some new ;)

*THANKS TO KBRYANT8 WHO HELPED SO MUCH WITH FINDING WHERE WERE THE FSH FILES*

nice tutorial (Y)
if fshX crashes, try nfshtool...

my friend discovered a problem when lighting is turned on, I've just posted another tutorial using an alternate method. That works even with lightings turned on. But this one is far more easy and simple, so I'm asking players with lighting set to "off", pls follow this great tutorial to get your custom tattoos in game. Take a look at mine only if you like to set everything to the highest or you simply have long hours to kill. :D

yep, tested it on mine too, it works...my bad...

according to the players.dbf i got from my friend, he put "7" in both color and muscletext, and he renamed the files correctly...wondering why he got that result...hopefully not a "software" problem :x

I tested it with 1 and 7 just like yours, didn't have the time to test with 77 yet, may do so later.

so apparently there are two different methods to get custom tattoos in game. can someone please kindly try both methods and see if they both works? thx.

EDIT: tested, apparently weired things only happened if you put in the color field a number bigger than "4", doesn't matter in the muscletext field though. so the biggest number you can assign for custom skin file is "49". "4" in color and "9" in muscletext.

i use trilinear settings (highest details) + vsync ON. I wonder if the rendering is a hardware "problem".

I'm using anisotropic texture filter instead...
all others are set to their highest possible or "on"
(well, except brightness :D)

Found out the problem, see my previous reply.

He's just saying that it's cool and good what you've figured out how to do, but he feels the actual brace is ugly. He does not think poorly of any of what you have figured out.

And Colin saves the day once again with his heroic dsiplay of mediating a discussion.

I don't know if this has been ask before, but when u edit a player there is the pre made tatoo's, letters, scorpians, ball and so on, is there a way to edit those tatoos, and add cusytom one's so you can just pick and choose wich one to stick to your player.

Yo I did it just like it said here, but yo I cant get it to show up....

To check my completed work I went to roster managment and create player...then I clicked on edit player and went to my guy....I dont see the tats I added....

Where does the most common mistake happen?

For importing it back into the game, I used the EAGraphix editor thing...seemed to work find and I can still see my fsh files in there.....

For the record I went and used the same number (17) as you....
