Hey man, I've got no problems with that. :)

Question:

Tue Jun 20, 2006 10:17 pm

Does the .bmp file (ur photo) must be 16 bit? 24-bit, or what ?
Pls help... :?:

Wed Jun 21, 2006 8:39 am

It doesn't matter ... although it needs to be saved as a .png file to import it, not a .bmp.

emicu04, go to the folder with the .png and type the name in the box.

Hi Guys,

Very simply...I just want to install a portrait into the game. I have NBALIVE 06. I am trying to use a portrait of 07 which i was under the impression that 07 portraits are compatible with 06.

I created Andrea Bargnani into the game. I exited out of the game and opened up DB commander. I changed the appropiated areas to false. I typed in the player package...ANBARGN. THEN I SAVED EVERYTHING. NEXT I WENT INTO APPEARANCES AND TRIED ONCE WITHOUT CHANGING THE FACEid AND THEN ANOTHER TIME CHOOSING -1. The photo changed from a generic face to the NBA logo player. Does the name have to be lower case in the database plrpkg?

I just want to be able to create a player in the game and just put a photo of him in the game.

Thanks,
Jay

Cable wrote:Seeing as so many guys are asking how to make a portrait, I thought I'd write a tutorial.

You don't need a cyberface to have a portrait, check here to find out how.

 The first thing you need to do is create the picture you want to use for your portrait. Once you have one, cut it out and copy it onto a 128x128 image. You should have it like this; some of the bottom will be cut off, so pretty much only the head is showing in-game. Make sure to save it as a .png file to keep the transparency.

ImageImage
Image

 After you have that, you need to open the file fe/plyrprts.viv and extract one of the files, it doesn't matter which, it should be a file called plyrprts~SHONEAL.big (or whatever the name of the player is). Open that file and extract the four files found inside. You should extract all the files to a folder you've created, it makes it a lot easier if they're all in the same place, including the image you want to use.

 Now you need to rename the files. The name you choose is a seven letter code, ex. SHONEAL. That code must be the same code as the one you used for you cyberface. There should be four files, a .fsh, .ebo, .apt and .const, DO NOT EDIT THE .APT OR .CONST FILE EXCEPT TO CHANGE THE NAME.

 You need to open the .fsh file using a .fsh editor, and import the image you want for your portrait. You will also need to open the .ebo file using a Hex Editor, get one here. In the .ebo go to the bottom and find the line ..shoneal1.. (or whatever the code is instead of 'shoneal'). Change the 'shoneal' to, you guessed it, your seven letter code, same as the cyberface and what you named the portrait files.

 Open the plyrprts~SHONEAL.big (or whatever it's called) file once again and import the four files; the .fsh, .ebo, .apt and the .const; Rebuild them and close the .big file. You have now finished creating a portrait file for your player.

 The last step is to put the .big file in the sgsm folder. Remember, you also need a cyberface in order for your portrait to work, and you will need to do the correct .dbf editing as well.

I've found that sometimes the portrait doesn't work but the cyberface will show up, or the portrait will be cut-off. If this happens, simply redo the entire custom-portrait process using a different players .big file as a base, it should work then.

I don't get this tut at all.
First, how do I open viv file and how do I extract it?

Wed Jun 11, 2008 2:22 pm

I'm trying to add a custom portrait, but I don't have a cyberface. On the first page of this thread, there is a link on how to do this, but the link is broken. Does anyone have the link? Or better yet, can someone tell me how to do this without the cyberface?
I've created the portrait exactly how the tutorial says, but I don't know where to go from there. I'm guessing there is some DBF editing I should do, but I can't find any info on that. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Thu Jun 12, 2008 12:34 am

If you're not using a custom face file, just skip any steps relating to appearance.dbf.

Thu Jun 12, 2008 12:42 am

So, do I need to do any DBF editing at all? Anything to players DBF?
Thanks Andrew!

Thu Jun 12, 2008 12:43 am

You'll need to update the PLAYERPKG in players.dbf so that it recognises the custom portrait file.

Thu Jun 12, 2008 1:02 am

Ok, just so I can get this straight.......
my player portrait is Derek Harper. I need to change the playerpkg to "DEHARPE" or "deharpe"? Does it matter which one?
Also, do I put the FSH file in sgsm as well, or just the BIG file?
Thanks, man.

Thu Jun 12, 2008 1:45 am

You'll need to place the .BIG file in sgsm and change the PLAYERPKG to DEHARPE.

Thu Jun 12, 2008 2:44 am

So, I decided to start the whole process over from scratch to make sure I don't miss any steps and to get better at it. But now, every time I try to open the FSH file with FshX, it tells me "Run Time Error 52" - Bad file name or number.
What does that mean? I've tried a few different BIG files and still no luck. Any suggestions?

Sat Jun 14, 2008 11:22 am

Not trying to be a nag......but does anyone have any advice? I'm desperate!

I have created player and ad him the portrait but now i cant change his face and body in my game, the head is black. Why is that? I didn't change face id, i have left it like it was, its not -1. What should i do so i can change my players face and body?

Re: Custom Portrait Tutorial

Mon Mar 02, 2009 3:58 pm

His ISCREATED attribute is probably set to False, which means the game doesn't recognise him as a created player whose face you can edit.

Re: Custom Portrait Tutorial

Mon Mar 02, 2009 10:59 pm

But if i change it to True, then, his portrait is gone but i can change his face and body, very strange?
Maybe the answer is in the beginning of this topic, he says that "You don't need a cyberface to have a portrait, check here to find out how" but that link is not working, bit i doubt that would help me.
Something is wrong, but i don't know what?
