Freestyle with keyboard FINAL Solution

Postby Markarian on Sun Oct 01, 2006 10:38 pm

OK I this should be the final solution for Freestyle moves with the keyboard for Live 2007
First of all I have to say that it’s based on the guide posted by Vyger here(http://forums.nbalive.org/viewtopic.php?t=13941), I’ve it changed to fit the needs for 2007.
The buttons are how I play the game but you should be able to set them up anyway you want.

How to do it:
first download and install PPjoy http://www.simtel.net/product.download. ... p?id=75176

Then start the program (start – All programs -> Parallel Port Joystick -> Configure Joysticks)

Press button "Add" and choose Parallel Port: Virtual Joystick, Controller number: Controller 1
(windows will install a virtual joystick in hardware devices just follow the instructions)

Now press button "Mapping" and choose "Set a custom mapping for this controller"

continue and choose everything like written below:

4 Axes, 12 Buttons, 1 POV hats
Axis 1: X Axis,
Axis 2: Y Axis,
Axis 3: Z Axis,
Axis 4: Z Rotation

X Axis: Analog 0,
Y Axis: Analog 1,
Z Axis: Analog 2,
Z Rotation: Analog 3

Button 1: Digital 0 ... Button 12: Digital 11

Direction button POV:
North - Digital 12,
East - Digital 15,
West - Digital 14,
South - Digital 13

Done.

next steps are needed to set it up for live 07:

Now choose PPJoyKey (Start – All Programs - Parallel Port Joystick - PPJoyKey)

Joystick device: Virtual joystick 1.

Up = Up (Keyboard: up)
Down = Down (Keyboard: down)
Left = Left (Keyboard: left)
Right = Right (Keyboard: right)
Z Axis - = Freestyle move (Keyboard: E)
Z Axis + = Freestyle move (Keyboard: F)
Z Rotation - = Freestyle Crossover/Spinmove (Keyboard: C)
Z Rotation + = Backdown (Keyboard: Left Ctrl)
Button 1 = Rebound/Dunk (Keyboard: W)
Button 2 = Turbo (Keyboard: Spacebar)
Button 3 = Timeout/intentional foul (Keyboard: G)
Button 4 = Lay-Up (Keyboard: A)
Button 5 = Direct Pass (Keyboard: Q)
Button 6 = Shot (Keyboard: D)
Button 7 = Pass (Keyboard: S)
Button 8 = Alley-Oop (Keyboard: Numpad 0)
Button 9 = Superstartrigger (Keyboard: Left Shift)
Button 10 = Off the ball (Keyboard: Right Ctrl)
Button 11 = Pause (Keyboard: ESC)
Button 12 = I think this is Crossover, I don’t use it(No key)
Button 13 = Quick Plays (Keyboard: 1)
Button 14 = Quick Plays (Keyboard: 2)
Button 15 = Quick Plays (Keyboard: 3)
Button 16 = Quick Plays (Keyboard: 4)

Keyboard: X, C, up, down etc are adjustable, just choose whatever you want (these are my configurations to give you an idea of how it works, so backdown would be key "L.Ctrl" on my keyboard settings)

Now save the .ini file.
You can download mine here:
http://rapidshare.de/files/35092377/NBA2007.ini.html
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R1NX0UC5

Open your editor/notepad(A NEW EMPTY document NOT the one you just saved) and copy/paste these lines just lower

bind pov0_s PLAYCALL4
bind pov0_n PLAYCALL3
bind pov0_e PLAYCALL2
bind pov0_w PLAYCALL1
bind button1 BACKDOWN
bind button2 TURBO
bind button3 CALLPLAY
bind button4 CROSSOVER
bind button5 DIRECTSHOOT
bind button6 SHOOT
bind button7 PASS
bind button8 FAKE
bind button9 DIRECTPASS
bind button10 DEBUG2
bind button11 PAUSE
bind button12 DEBUG1
bind axis3 RYAXISCHANGE
bind axis2 RXAXISCHANGE
bind axis1 YAXISCHANGE
bind axis0 XAXISCHANGE
ioconfig_mgr_analog 0
ioconfig_mgr_haspov 1
ioconfig_mgr_default 0
ioconfig_mgr_displayname "PPjoy"

save as ppjoy.jfg to your My Documents\NBA Live 07\configs folder

Here’s mine(note, named Touto, not ppjoy):
http://rapidshare.de/files/35093407/Touto.jfg.html
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XG40XIX7

Start your game and use Gamepad as controller (choose PPJoy in configurations)

Note: Don’t close the ppjoy program while playing live07 (you can minimize it)
Add a shortcut to PPjoyKey on your desktop for easy access

Remember to always load your NBALive2007.ini in PPjoykey throught the "Load .ini" button before playing.

PS. Using this configuration you can also do the advanced freestyle moves, you can just tap the keys you binded as freestyle in rapid succession and it will do the moves. I haven’t been able to do all of them yet but I’m able to pull 360 Windmill dunks, switch hand layups and the lot!

Some specific moves here:

Pro-Hop: Hold "Z Rotation -" (C in my configuration) for 1-2 secs

Superstars: Some cool moves can be made by tapping "Z Rotation -" and "Z Axis -" (or vise versa) in rappid succesion or "Z Rotation +" and "Z Axis +"(allthough the second one is tougher to do in my configuration)

Just experiment, i was able to do most of the Power dunks, about 10 highflyer dunks, floaters and switch hand layups with scorers and generally most of the level three moves.
Once i figure out what "Z Rotation -" and "Z Axis -" etc. specifically represent in the moves shown here( http://blogs.ign.com/NBALive_07/2006/09/06/30205/ ) i'll post them.

I'm with you man!

I am also using PPJOY for few days and still cannot pull 360 windmill, switch hand layup etc (all moves from level 2 and level 3)... I hope You'll put a full solution soon :(

OK i've tested this with many different button configurations and it works just fine, so everyone playing with the keyboard can use this and do all the freestyle moves.
I'll try to post specific combinations for freestyle moves later today.

You can switch the "Z rotation -" and "Z rotation +" buttons as in put Q in "Z rotation -" and Left Alt in"Z rotation +", that should fix it

Why not just buy a joypad? I know that it's lame that you would need a joypad to enjoy all the features of the game, but that's just the way it is.
Your game will be so much better with a joypad...
Either choose to play or get played

It seems in the file you posted that you put all the lines (from the .ini file and the .jfg) in one file. Is that correct or did you just upload them in one file so i can see them both?

You need to have two files one .ini that you load in PPjoy and one .jfg that you load in game.

You choose the controller and then choose the "PPjoy" configuration from the arrow list that appears when you click on the controller icon in the NBA Live controller select screen.
Did that help?

Ok guys I was a little busy (I was married :D ). So, ppjoy is OK also with nba live 07 but there is a little bug. Direct pass is not correctly during the game and some button are wrong. I'm trying to find a way to fix it (I use a lot direct pass). Then, the procedure described by markanian is ok except for the buttons 5, 7, 10.
Button 5: is the simple pass
Button 7: is the direct pass (it doesn't work properly)
Button 10: is used to protect the ball (expecially for the PG rule)
I didn't found off the ball button (I don't use it for now)
... and button 12 appearce to be unused. If there are mistakes please reply here. That's all for now.

After you've completed to first two steps(Made the settings in Configure Joysticks and chose you buttons in the PPjoyKey program you save the ini file(Use the save .ini button in PPjoyKey)
After you have done that you open up notepad/wordpad(A NEW EMPTY document NOT the .ini you just saved!)

Copy/paste the lines

bind pov0_s PLAYCALL4
bind pov0_n PLAYCALL3
bind pov0_e PLAYCALL2
bind pov0_w PLAYCALL1
bind button1 BACKDOWN
bind button2 TURBO
bind button3 CALLPLAY

bind axis1 YAXISCHANGE
bind axis0 XAXISCHANGE
ioconfig_mgr_analog 0
ioconfig_mgr_haspov 1
ioconfig_mgr_default 0
ioconfig_mgr_displayname "PPjoy"

save as ppjoy.jfg to -> My Documents\NBA Live 07\configs

Now you should have TWO files, one in your My Documents\NBA Live 07\configs folder named ppjoy.jfg(or whatever you've named it) and one .ini file that you saved through the "Save .ini" button in the PPjoyKey program.

Now it's 3 simple steps:
1)Open up PPjoyKey (Start – All Programs - Parallel Port Joystick - PPJoyKey)
2)Load the .ini file you saved using the "Load .ini" button
3)Run the game and select PPjoy as your configuration in the Controller select screen

PS. Add a shortcut to PPjoyKey on your desktop for easy access

IF i understand correctly you need the .jfg file. The one i've already posted should work fine for everyone:

Dude i don't know what you're doing wrong just download my Touto.jfg file and put it in My Documents/NBA Live 07/configs.

http://rapidshare.de/files/35093407/Touto.jfg.html
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XG40XIX7

In the controller select screen you do NOT select the keyboard icon but the Gamepad icon.
Then you click on it and if the .jfg is where it should be you select it from the list(named PPjoy or Touto if you download mine)

I don't know what could cause that and yeah if you want you can change my filename but remember to open the "Touto.jfg" document and also change the

ioconfig_mgr_displayname "Touto"

line where in Touto you put whatever you want(example
ioconfig_mgr_displayname "Dekiu", and also change the actual filename(from Touto.jfg to Dekiu.jfg)

Markarian, I have two problems with this, so if you can help: I'm using your files, but when I press DOWN the players go up and when I press RIGHT they go left (UP and LEFT are OK). I tried using different buttons for moving, but whatever I do I get two buttons for up and two for left - no down and right movement. And one more thing - when I press LEFT CTRL (you say it's Backdown), the player makes a spin move or something like that.

Do you know what may be wrong?

Thanks.
