New to Live 10? Some questions

Postby GoLowDrew on Fri May 28, 2010 12:58 am

Excuse me for not keeping up. Thinking about Live (again).

Here is what I hope the game can do. Please don't ask why.

Play in Dynasty Mode. I want to fast forward maybe 10 seasons so all the (big name NBA) players are gone. The game will generate new players. Then I want to add-create a player (me) in the game. Can I do it? Or can I edit a player to make him = me, with my height, skin color, etc, etc.

Thanks,
GoLowDrew

No, you can't create a player after you've started a Dynasty game. That player would need to be created and in the rosters when you start the Dynasty.

Ok. Thanks. Follow up.

1. Under what conditions does a player leaves the game. Let me be specific. How can I make Tim Duncan, Kobe, or Lebron James retire? Is it an age fuction.

2. If I create myself as a 30 year old player. If I need to fast forward 20 years, I can still be in the game at age 50, right?

3. Can I adjust my skill slider in the middle of a Dynasty? Can I adjust it at anytime? So a 50 year old man can still dunk, for example.

1. It's based on age, yes. Players in NBA Live generally don't retire before the age of 32, with players who are still stars and in a good position to remain important players for their team/win a championship tending to stick around longer. There's no way to force a player to retire in NBA Live 10, since you can't edit the date of birth for default players in the console versions.

2. No, the game would retire that player after a few years. Depending on the conditions I mentioned above, they'd probably be around until they're 40, at most.

3. Yes, you can. You can also edit player ratings in Dynasty now, however I believe you forfeit Dynasty Points for doing so (and thus cannot upgrade your staff).

Last few question.

1. Is there sort of a mass delete of all the players in the game and have NBA Live generate new players? Have the game make up all the rooster names.

2. If I don't play in Dynasty, is there a way to keep track of my game accomplishments? Like how many chapionships I won, Win-Loss %, Conference titles? I guess that would be User stats (with a bit more detail)?

Much thanks,

One more. For example.

Player edit.

Can I edit Tim Duncan, and make his name Adam Smith and #17 instead?

These would all be handy features, though. ;)

(And feasible if we had a PC release which we could patch...)

I believe you should only change a players name or number is if it happens in real life. :)

Well, that's certainly a philosophy to follow, but for modding purposes it'd definitely be nice to have the capability. Especially since we have a limited amount of CAP slots.

I have a question myself, what is the shot alter ability slider in Live 10? I always thought it was the User/CPU's ability to contest a shot, but it just doesn't sound like it.

Can someone tell me how many Dynasty years can Live 10 have?

I know, I know, I've been hold out on this game (because it can't do what Live on PC could do).

I want to fast forward and sim all the years so ALL current NBA players are retired. So Live 10 will create new playes with new names right? If I do that, how many years do I still have to play?

Also, can I customized the coach? Or is Phil Jackson going to coach the Lakers forever?

If I can't have it the way I want (change players data), then I rather not have any current players at all.

TIA

Dynasty allows for 25 seasons, so unless Jrue Holiday plays until he's 46 or so, all current players will be retired.

You can't fire or hire coaches I believe, one unrealistic aspect of Dynasty mode. (N) Don't see why you wouldn't want real players from the NBA, but if that's how you want it, well, then by all means go for it.

Can someone tell me what is the youngest ago Live 10 will allow one to create.

**Thanks for answering my questions, I know they are strange, but it's how I play the game.

Latest year of birth you can select is 1990, so 18/19 for the first year of Dynasty Mode. Earliest year you can set is 1967.

I hope this is my last question.

If I create a player. He is with the Lakers. I'm in Dynasty mode. So I control and play the Lakers team. My created player got traded to the Bulls. Can I now swtich to playing the Bulls? I think the answer is NO. Correct?

Also, I can turn Trade function off in Live 10, Correct?

Correct, you can't switch teams like that.

You can't turn off trades but you can enable an option that will allow you to make trades for the CPU, effectively allowing you to undo trades if desired. Note that you sacrifice the ability to earn Dynasty Points (which are used to upgrade your staff) if you enable this option.

In my current Rockets dynasty, I had to fix a trade which was Chris Paul (who's reached his prime in this dynasty), for Gerald Wallace and Tyson Chandler. I figure that in every season, I'm gonna have to fix one trade.
